Make A Holiday Rental Apartment in A Guarda, Spain, Your Home Away From Home

With a history dating back thousands of years, A Guarda is a town of some 10,000 people located in the Galicia region of Spain. The river Mino separates it from Portugal, its neighbour, and tourism is slowly taking a hold here as a main Summer industry. The best places to stay are holiday rental apartments in A Guarda, as they really do feel like a home-away-from-home. Avoid the tourist masses on the eastern Costas, and see for yourself what Galicia has to offer!

Things to Do on Holiday in A Guarda, Spain

The quiet beaches of A Guarda are perhaps the main reason that tourist numbers are increasing, and they offer the opportunity to partake in all manner of activities. Swimming, sunbathing, diving and sailing are all possible here. If you are interested in cycling, and your holiday rental apartment in A Guarda does not have any, then it is possible to rent a bike in order to explore the immediate surrounding countryside. Other activities include horse riding and golf. In fact, you could do something different every day you are on holiday in A Guarda!

Places to Visit on Holiday in A Guarda, Spain

One of the main attractions close by to your holiday rental apartment in A Guarda is the archaeological site known as Castro de Santa Tegra. With a museum and visitor centre, the place is slowly being restored and offers some amazing views from up on the hill. To better explore the Pontevedra Province in general you will need access to a hire car, as then such historic centres as Santiago de Compostela, with its amazing cathedral, can be visited. Spending some time driving the quiet, small country lanes will reveal a side to this area of Spain that you may not have realised existed.

Weather in A Guarda, Spain

This area of Spain has a level of rainfall which compares with the south of England, hence why the region is so green. That said, most of this falls during the late Autumn and Winter months, and does not unduly affect tourists. The summers, however, are warm and long, with average daily highs exceeding 25 degrees Celsius. The Winters can be chillier, with occasional frosts during the colder nights. A holiday in A Guarda is more popular during the summer.

Travel to A Guarda, Spain

The nearest airport to your self catering accommodation in A Guarda is at Vigo (VGO). However, this is quite a minor airport, and the only connection with the UK is with airline Vueling who fly into London Heathrow (LHR). The next closest airport is at Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), where Ryanair operate flights into London Stansted (STN). Whichever airport you decide to use, you will need to hire a car in order to get back to your holiday rental apartment in A Guarda, and also to give yourself greater freedom whilst on vacation there.

A perfect haven for border hopping

5 of 5
Victor and Nati make a perfect pair to present, support and enrich this property. Communication was very helpful and friendly before arriving and everything was as advertised. On arriving the house was found to be clean and comfortable along with a lovely pool. We had done a city break in Lisbon beforehand so we wanted to spend some time relaxing as well as little trips here and there. You certainly need a car to get supplies but that is half the fun to explore nearby surroundings. Roads are like complex rabbit burrows but between Waze and Google you can get around until you remember a few routes. Even though the owner, Victor, lives next door he is never overbearing. In fact quite the opposite and we came to get to know him and Nati well during our requests for information. Their intelligent wit, local tips and historical insights all added to the fun time we had. Victor's role as host culminated in a delightful paella at his house - a perfect afternoon we will all remember. Our two children adored this house and spend lots of time in the pool, playing in the garden and having fun with Victor, Nati and the two dogs. When we got to the plane our 2 year old said to put her in the overhead locker so she could fly back and stay a bit more. We all felt the same way :) Highly recommended and memorable.

Nice get away, never wanted to leave

5 of 5
I felt very at home here in this lovely designer apartment. All the amenities you could ask for. It's not large and not small either, with great views of Mount Tegla from the living room window. Open the refrigerator and there is a welcome bottle of Alberino wine and soft drinks. You would not get that even in a 5 star hotel. New fresh and clean. Maite Lomba the owner is only a phone call away if you need her assistance. WIFI is excellent, I needed it to check on my business. The walks on the sea front and local beaches means you can leave the car behind. Plenty of sea food restaurants locally. Get in your car and you can drive along the beautiful coast line that would rival anywhere in the world for its beauty, on a windy or calm day its a photographers dream. Drive any direction and you can hit; Baiona ( Little Monaco), Vigo and Portugal, follow the wine trail, walk or drive up mount Tegla during the day or for a sun set that will blow your mind. We are going back, we may never leave! Martin Davidson
