The village of Vale de Lama lies on a hillside overlooking the sea between Lagos and Alvor in the Algarve, Portugal. Although the village is slightly set back from the coast, it is only a 1km walk from a villa in Vale de Lama before you find yourself on one of the Algarve’s finest little beaches, Meia Praia.

Golf is another popular activity in and around Vale de Lama. The Palmeras Golf Course is the most spectacular in the area, offering a sublime 18 holes of golf, catering for both the expert and the beginner, as long as you can produce a handicap certificate.
Vale de Lama lies on the most celebrated coastal walk in the Algarve. Running between Alvor and Lagos, this part of the Algarve coastal path is one of the most spectacular, and there are many excellent walks throughout the area, and mountain biking in the area is excellent. Lagos is a fantastic town to visit from Vale de Lama accommodation. Located just a few kilometres down the coast, Lagos offers visitors the chance to try almost any water sport, play golf or simply relax on the beach. Within the town, away from the beach, are a huge number of attractions too, from the popular commercial centres to the restaurants that pump mouth watering aromas into the air, and from the beautiful façade of the Franciscan Monastery to the open countryside found to the north of the town.
The Algarve has a fantastic climate all year round. The summers are wonderfully warm, lasting from May until late September, when daily peak temperatures reach well into the mid 30’s (˚C). During July and August, it is not uncommon to experience temperatures of almost 40˚C, during which time the beaches become an undeniable asset! During the winter months, a villa rental in Vale de Lama is still a perfect getaway, with golf courses open all year round.
Faro’s International Airport (FAO) is located 50km east of a holiday rental property in Vale de Lama. Every day, flights of all sorts arrive into Faro from airports across the UK, from Exeter (EXT) to Edinburgh (EDI), and there are a great range of transfer options from the airport to the region, including hire car facilities.
