We have had many villa holidays over the years. If you are reading this, I am sure you have too, because this is well off any beaten track that I have ever heard of. And, no matter how good, they never seem to quite match up to your expectations, do they? Well, let me assure you right now - this place will defy and exceed your expectations. Spectacularly so. Incredibly spacious and well equipped, beautifully finished, with the most wonderful views over the lake and a pool that would be the envy of most hotels, never mind villas. In a wonderfully tranquil spot. We were a bit concerned about finding the place from Lisbon Airport (an hour and 20 minutes away). Don't be. The route until the last couple of miles is straightforward, and the owners' excellent little map did the rest. At the end of the journey, a delightfully sleepy little village (Serra) with a 7 day shop, butchers and friendly bar cafes with prices that make you think you have gone back to the 1980's. And nearby is the town of Tomar - an absolute revelation with its lovely riverside setting, mediaeval town filled with narrow cobbled streets and excellent restaurants, all topped by the most magnificent castle. If you have got this far in your search, and have read this far with this review, then look no further. Book it, relax, and enjoy a truly special experience in this beautiful and tranquil place.
