Fantastic property, comfortable and very well equipped with a lovely pool and outside space. Great location in a village with mini market, cafe and spectacular viewing point.Pleasant walk to Sao Martinho on the boardwalk and beach. Also good location for visits to Foz,Buddah Eden,Caldas and Nazare. Perfect for our holiday and we hope to be back soon.
The villa was really large and modern with gorgeous ensuite bathrooms. The garden was large and the pool was lovely and cleaned regularly. Gary was really helpful and gave great directions to the villa which took us about 1.2 hours from Lisbon.
The complex is very quiet and not fully occupied so there was no noise disturbance. We slept like logs in the comfy beds.
Bom Successa beach was just 5mins drive away and the lake just a 5 minute walk. Peniche, for the keen surfers a 30 minute drive. The nearest supermarket was good and reasonably priced (20mi drive).
The nearest medieval town of Obidos was really quirky and has some gorgeous little craft shops. Try the local Ginja (cherry brandy) in a little chocolate cup- sold along the walking street-yum yum!
Book in advance for the closet couple of restaurants as these book out fast.
The little water park near peniche is a nice half day out for kids.
Western Portugal is much less touristy. The upside of this being much cheaper plenty of nice spots to grab on the beach etc. The downside is there is less choice of restaurants and shops nearby but we went to relax so we were very content indeed. Our kids loved swimming in the lagoon at the beach and jumping in and out of the pool.
Portuguese local wine and bread is so cheap and divine! Don't get me started on the avocados and €9.99 big boxes of huge fresh prawns you can buy at the local supermarket! Enjoy!
