Excellent location, a 'real' Portual setting.”

    5 of 5
The villa was of very good quality with superb decor and large rooms throughout and had nicely landcaped grounds to relax in. Loved the pool which is big enough to really swim in (unusual in villas with their own pool for rental). The settling was exactly what we were looking for - within a small hamlet of Portuguese dwellings and the locals, who despite speaking little or no English, were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were able to book the dates we wanted (Late May 2017) and had no problems in the booking and confirmation side. The Villa is about 45 minutes from Faro ( straight forward journey, majority via lightly traffic motorway. The instructions given for' to and from' the Airport were very clear and we easilly found the Villa. However you would probably need to hire a car to get to / from the villa and getting around. Being only 15 minutes drive to the border with Spain and 5 minutes or so drive to the lovely deserted local beach of Altura was just what we wanted. Whilst having plenty to do, see and restaurants to eat at close by, it was well away from the traditional British rowdy resorts (areas that we like to avoid). The area has a feel of 'real Portugal' and I suspect this is where they prefer to spend their holidays within the Algarve. There were at least 4 Golf courses within 15 minute drive and numerous more within a 30 minute drive. Played 2 local courses that were both very good but expensive (although managed to get deals via web offers / specials). Both couses very very quiet and had no problems getting tee times. If you like a large spacious villa, decorated and furnished to a high quality in a quiet area and wish to blend in with the Portuguese; then this is right up there.
