Beautiful spacious villa with lovely views

5 of 5
My family and I stayed at Marks villa for two weeks at the end of June, we arrived at a very antisocial hour but Mark made sure everything was organised and as smooth as possible for us, his housekeeper Lucia and her family were there on our arrival and briefly showed us around, she spoke very little English but we got by, especially as one of our party spoke some Spanish. Lucia and her daughter were fantastic during our stay, changing sheets, cleaning etc. and helping us with any issue or questions we had. The villa itself is marvellous, so much more spacious than it looks in the photos, there was over 10 in our party and at no point were we short on space, there were things available for the young children which was incredibly useful too - high chair, cot, toys etc. The location is perfect for exploring Portugal and Spain and we found beautiful beaches between 30 and 40 minutes away as well as the river beach opposite. It's worth knowing there is a walk along the river from the bottom of the villa which leads you straight into the local town Moncào much more quickly than the roads (although there are a few rocks to climb over). I would recommend the boat trip in Vigo over to Cies Island for a day trip - the beach is breathtaking. Caminha in Portugal is also well worth a visit, we ate at a wonderful restaurant in the square that made ice cream on site. Some of our party also went to the Festival at Braga which was great fun. We found Continente (I can't remember it's name exactly) the best supermarket locally for us. Unfortunately the jacuzzi bath was out of action during our stay but with such a lovely pool this wasn't an issue. We made lemonade from the fantastic lemons we collected which was delicious and the children very much enjoyed petting the cats and spotting the hedgehogs at night! I cannot fault Marks communications during and before our stay and Lucia and her family were fantastic and always smiling. Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable holiday - my two year old daughter now keeps asking to go back to her 'Portugal house'!

Fantastic home in a beautiful location!

5 of 5
My family and I, (4 children aged 17, 15, 11 & 7 and 2 adults), have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this property. I'm never quite sure if what I see in the photos and description of a home is going to be accurate but our expectations were surpassed. The house is beautiful with a mix of rustic stone work and contemporary design that we all loved. It was spotlessly clean and extremely well-maintained. There was plenty of room for all of us with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a very spacious lounge. The kitchen was lovely as well with everything you could possibly need for a family stay. Above all though, what I loved more than anything is the location. Every window you look out has the most beautiful vista - just what we needed at the end of a hectic school year and to get a break from work, etc. The garden itself is very lovingly cared for and there is a lovely outdoor living area where the whole family can sit and have lunch and/or dinner and take in the landscape. We also used the outdoor barbecue which is built into the side of this building which seems to be a restored outhouse. Lastly, the pool was a big hit and we didn't leave the house any day until late afternoon/early evening as we just sat back and chilled. I could go on.... I loved it!! Gondomil is a great base for visiting lots of different areas in Northern Portugal/Northwest Spain - Valenca is a lovely town for a walk around, Tui just over the border in Spain is a gorgeous town and well worth a visit. Vigo in Spain is very near (we actually flew into Vigo and hired a car from there) and great for a day trip, the beaches there are lovely. We spent an evening driving to A Guarda and then onto Baiona which is a gorgeous town with plenty of lovely restaurants and creperies, etc. All in all, we had a fabulous holiday and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Bruno's home and this area as a place to visit. Finally, Bruno was very attentive at all times, replying to any emails I sent as soon as possible and checking that we arrived in the property and that all was well with everything. Other than that you were left alone to enjoy your holiday which is just what we like. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property to family and friends looking for a peaceful holiday in a beautiful location.
