We had a very relaxing week at this lovely villa. Edgard (and his cuddly dog) welcomed us and was a mine of useful information about the surrounding area. There are lots of nice places to visit and plenty of good bars and restaurants in the area, but it's just as nice to stay by the pool and do absolutely nothing. Highly recommended
We spent a fabulous fortnight at Vista do Mar. In the quiet hamlet of Atalia the villa is modern and spacious with great sea views from the balconies and picture windows. Set across 3 floors we had plenty of room to spread out (2 adults and 3 teens) or spend time on the comfortable sofas in the lounge All the rooms are very clean and pleasantly furnished and the beds comfortable. The kitchen is large with a full range of appliances and 3 bathrooms means there is no waiting for a shower. The pool area and pool were both very clean and the pool was cleaned twice during our stay and the maids thoroughly cleaned the house mid stay. The rear of the villa faces west so gets plenty of sun across the day plus the beautiful the evening. It is within easy driving distance (10mins) of 2 large supermarkets in Lourinha and the local award winning beach and bar is even nearer. From the beach there is a 10 mins boardwalk into Areia Branca where there are more bars and restaurants. Other places of interest are the Dinopark (go early to avoid queues) signed from Lourinha, Dino-karting just north on the N246 , the walled city of Obidos and of course trips into Lisbon. We drove down to the suburbs (Odivelas) and then caught the Metro in to the city. Lisbon is a beautiful city and if you are a one time visitor try the Big Red Bus trips, the Furnicular trams and the Hard Rock Cafe. Peniche is further up the coast and is also worth a visit. This area is quite traditionally Portuguese with few burger restaurants and noisy pub bars but lots of traditional eateries and pastelaria where you can sit and enjoy an espresso. The weather overall was good but mornings can start misty on the coast but this soon burns off to brilliant sunshine, we visited late August so the evenings could be cool. ;)
