A beautifully appointed historic property in a quiet village.

5 of 5
This property is full of character and charm, as well as being cosy. It is very spacious, beautifully appointed, perfect for relaxing. Unlike many Portugese properties, it has full central heating, plenty of hot water, and a woodburning stove! Pedro the owner is very friendly and helpful

Beautiful hideaway for two

5 of 5
We stayed here for four days and if we could have stayed longer we would. Lola and Vincent were lovely hosts, They were on hand if we needed anything but were also happy to leave us to do what we wanted. When we arrived they offered to go to a local shop for us to get supplies as we didn't speak Portuguese. We didn't want to put them out so they told us about the shop in Penamacor which we drove to and took no time at all. They had all the basics we needed and the cashier spoke enough english. We got back to find a bottle of Plexus (Portuguese prosecco) in the fridge and pool towels on the loungers. (A great sight after a 5 hour drive from Faro airport). The cabin is set away from the main house and isn't overlooked so felt really private. The wood finish on the inside was lovely and the layout was perfect. The kitchen had what we needed and the bathroom had a roomy shower with plenty of storage for toiletries. The windows and door was flyscreened but we only saw a couple during our stay so they weren't really a problem. Temperatures tipped 40 degrees while we were there so the air-con and plunge pool were ideal. Especially as you can look at he Serra de Estrela mountains from in the pool. The picture of the mountain doesn't do it justice. Watching the sunset over the mountain was beautiful. At night the view changes to twinkling lights from the villages with a full sky of stars above them which is just truly spectacular. Every night we saw at least three shooting stars and the occasional satellite go overhead. As well as picking out the Milky Way and several other astronomical objects which we just cant see back home as too much light pollution. If you enjoy a quiet relaxing holiday with stunning views both day and night then we can highly recommend a stay here! Thanks again for a wonderful start to our holiday! Gareth and Steve
