Beautiful House - spent a lovely week there.

5 of 5
The house was beautiful, with well kept gardens all round, in a lovely quiet town.. We weren't able to eat out in the garden as much as we had hoped, due to the weather, but still managed to BBQ some of the local fresh fish. Right opposite the house is a small supermarket & fresh fish shop, which was very convenient & also a large supermarket at the end of the road. It was only a short walk to the beach & very easy to drive into Porto & other local towns. The owner was very friendly & helpful.

A very comfortable villa in a rural setting

4 of 5
The villa is very smart and modern with underfloor heating (cooling in the summer?) and a very well equipped kitchen/dining area to die for. The lounge is enormous (There are seats for 6 or 7) Children are well catered for with bunk beds/crib and some toys to keep them amused The owner was very helpful and his delighful (french speaking) parents who live next door made us feel very welcome. The villa is very well situated for exploring this part of Portugal by car and or train (We went into Porto by car and Metro which was fun and far less stressful than driving all the way). You will need a car to enjoy this area to the full. You could walk to one of the two local cafes or one of the two local grocery shops but you will soon tire of this especially if you don't like being barked at by the many local dogs. There is a fantastic shopping mall a short drive from the villa which will keep even the most ardent shopping addicts busy for hours and many interesting towns and beachs are within easy reach Also a short drive away is a fancinating archeological site where you can visit an iron age/roman village. Our one suggestion for improving the villa would be that the barbque area could do with brightening up. At present it is a rather uninteresting concrete area with a plastic table and not much else. That said we did stay during the winter and the owener may have potted plants etc that he uses to brighten the area when it is most likely to be used. All in all a very nice base from which to explore this fascinating part of Portugal
