  • Fabulous house with the best service
    5 of 5

It’s not easy to keep 4 teenage boys happy - but this house made it simple. Beautiful views from the swimming pool - which we spent a lot of time in. The defining feature is the impeccable service from the people looking after the house.

  • A lovely place

Five of us, including an 18 month old, rented Casa da Eva for a week in March. The weather was wonderful and we did some lovely walks, through the estate, along the river Duoru and up into the hills to some wind turbines. All the walks had magnificent views of the Duoru valley. The house itself was great. We arrived to find a large basket of fresh oranges from the estate and during our time there we picked more, along with grapefruits and lemons. There was a bottle of the estate wine waiting our arrival, along with olive oil and fresh bread, plus home made jams and other essentials. Maria was very welcoming and invited us all round for supper one evening where we met her brother and nephew and ate traditional portugese food. The 'drive' to the house would not be for the faint hearted but we became used to it. A car was essential as there are no shops within walking distance and, out of season, nowhere to eat out. The two dogs, whose kennels and run were next to the house, were well behaved and friendly despite towering over the 18 month old - they're large Rhodesian Ridgebacks! But all in all it was an excellent holiday.
