Really nice and well kept villa set in lovely grounds. The pool is perfect for a villa of this size and the local town has several decent restaurant options within walking distance despite being small enough to feel very quiet and relaxed.
Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful, would gladly return in future.
The first thing I would say before you leave home for Cerro De Bica is, be prepared to be relaxed. The villa is remote, which gives you complete and utter peace and tranquility. The villa is so well equipped and has such great spaces both indoors and out. The photos are accurate but I was still surprised at the amount of space we had. The pool area is beautiful with a choice of outdoor seating areas. The indoor communal areas are cool with the lovely tiled floors and again, well equipped. The kids loved the vast selection of DVD's and the Wii. There is a range of board games which we worked our way through each evening and a selection of books. All the rooms are spacious and cool and the beds comfy. Although no air con, there are ample fans throughout the villa which were more than suffice for our stay in July. David was on the end of the phone for questions and queries and nothing was too much trouble for him. A true gent.
The local village has a great supermarket which is no more than 10mins drive away and we found everything we could have wanted, including fantastic fish and shellfish choices. Try the Portuguese wine - its cheap and delicious.
We drove down to Albufeira a couple of times although quickly retreated to the villa for some peace as it was so busy. Saying that, find the marina as its a bit quieter with a choice of restaurants overlooking some amazing boats. We did go out on a Caves & Dolphins boat trip (pick one of the companies with smaller boats - its worth it) and while I was a little skeptical we'd see any dolphins, I was proved wrong. What an amazing experience and the kids still talk about this being the best trip yet.
Silves is a lovely day out and is only about 45mins drive from the villa. We went a bit further afield to Tavira which is a lovely little town although I'm not sure worth the drive. On our last day we hung out at Zoomarine. I'd say this was mostly aimed at younger kids although my teenagers enjoyed the dolphin display and the pools.
All in all, a great 2 week break at the villa.
