First, we would like to thank Paulo for going out of his way to make our stay so comfortable. He is an awesome host, picking us up at the airport and pointing out the location of various grocery, banks and restaurants to help make our stay more comfortable.
The apartment is clean and comfortable. The kitchen, washroom and bedroom are all updated and modern. The location is in a wonderful, active, historic part of Alfama with numerous restaurants located close by. The stairway might be a concern for anyone with mobility issues but we didn’t mind them at all.
If you want a great location, generous, helpful host and a clean and comfortable apartment, this is it.
Felicidade's apartment in Bairro Alto is modern, clean and cosy. It has everything you might need to feel at home during your stay at Lisbon. My husband and I stayed for 3 romantic days here. I was first confused by 2015 google view photos, but in reality the building has been renovated since then and it has a new fast elevator to take you to the 5th floor.
We were met by Felicidade who is very kind and welcoming. She met us with a serviced table and compelment products in the fridge for a luncheonette and told us a lot about the sites of Lisbon and how to get there from the apartment.
The apartment has a living/dinig room with a TV, sofa and two windows with a river view and street & roof views of Lisbon, combined with a modern kitchen with coffee-machines. The bedroom has a roof view, large comfortable bed and a wardrobe spacious enough for 2-3 persons. The bathroom is large and has a shower-gel & shampoo, as well as plenty of towels, fan and even cotton-pads in case you've forgotten some. Fast WiFi.
It is 1 minute walk to BICA elevator which takes you up along a very spectacular narrow street, typical of Lisbon. 5 minute walk to a supermarket that has all the basics. We walked on foot to lots of tourist spots in Chiado, Bairro Alto, Baixa & Alfama and even to Sao Jorge Castle (approx.30min up the hill).
In case you plan a longer trip, 10 minute walk takes you to Cais do Sodre - a metro, train and ferry station. We used the ferry to go to Cristo Rei monument accross the river. You can also take a tram or bus from Cais do Sodre, which we did to Belem (15 min) to visit Jeronimos Monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries and Belem Tower and also to taste some authentic Pasteis de Belem.
Special thanks to Sofia - whose transfer services we used and who also drove us on a wonderful day trip to Sintra, up to Pena Castle, Cabo da Roca, Cascais & Estoril.
I will recommend this apartment to my friends and will surely stay here when I come to Lisbon again.
