Things to do
The origins of Albufeira Castle date back to the Romans. It suffered greatly, though, in the earthquake of 1755, so most of what visitors see today was built in the late-18th century. The clock tower, or "Torre do Relógio", was constructed on the site of the old castle tower and is one of Albufeira's most famous landmarks.

The first thing visitors may notice when approaching the Fisherman's Beach, or Praia dos Pescadores, is the smell of grilled fish in the air. Numerous restaurants and stands adorn this beautiful stretch of golden sand, located a stone's throw from the old town. The sand and water are very clean.
This marine life theme park is found in the town of Guia, about six miles from Albufeira. Dolphin, seal, and sea lion shows are held year-round, as are bird shows. There is a 4-D movie theatre, a rehabilitation centre for marine wildlife, as well as pools and a small amusement park.
This colourful part of town is hard to miss! The buildings are painted in bright blue, green, pink, yellow, and orange. The marina area has a nice selection of shops nearby. There are quite a few bars and restaurants along the marina itself, making it a relaxing place to watch the ships roll in.
