We stayed here for a month and enjoyed every day. The villa is set in an excellent position with panoramic views of Temae beach and lagoon with the island of Tahiti sitting a few miles across the sea. Ferries sail to and fro all day, whales frolic in the ocean and chickens chatter among the tropical gardens. Even you never leave, it is a lovely place to while away the day. Not leaving would be a pity though and the nearby Temae beach is the best on the island of Moorea with sandy beach alongside coral gardens unequalled anywhere else on Moorea. The beach gets a bit stony in places with coral washed in the surf but access to the long beach is not restricted or charged for and whether you snorkel, kayak or swim in the lagoon or just walk the beach it is the best place have found for enjoying this part of God's creation. The variety and number of tropical fish is excellent, plenty of gentle slow swimming rays as you walk the beach and even the odd very shy and very harmless reef shark to be found among the coral. The supermarkets in the area are not huge but they are sufficient and although they close fairly early in the evening they generally do not close for siesta as some shops do. Coming from the UK we found food in the supermarkets very expensive but when you make allowance for the distances to get it there this is hardly surprising. The area has a number of restaurants although the Sofitel resort is probably the only one which is walkable, the rest you need a bus or taxi to or preferably the excellent rental car offered by Christiane and Bernard to their guests for a cost far below what rental agencies will charge you, driving is quite easy as there is really only one road which runs right around the island. We were met at the ferry by Spirou who is an excellent tour guide as well as looking after the guests in the villa and Spirou was invaluable to us during our stay, thanks Spirou .. the lady in blue. A kayak for the use of guests would be a great addition to this villa but otherwise it is without problem, so well equipped and in great condition, set on a lovely hill it is very well ventilated and only on the warmest nights did we need a fan for extra cooling, it is just very pleasant indeed and we hope to come back in the future.
We have just spent a most relaxing and special holiday on Moorea as guests at the pension of Marie-Lou. From the first day we were welcomed as friends to her family of husband Gilles and friendly dogs Rex and Queenie. At the house we enjoyed comfortable accommodation with everything we needed. We even found treats in the fridge on our arrival! The position of the house allows ample space from the garden or deck to admire the mesmerising lagoon and the small pier is an excellent bonus for kayaking. Having grown up nearby, Marie-Lou was a wonderful source of helpful information from historical events to present day tourist possibilities. She was very generous with her time, taking us shopping and showing us local highlights. We so enjoyed the time spent with Marie and Gilles who are relaxed and entertaining hosts. Thank you for sharing your corner of paradise with us. We look forward to returning to your stunningly beautiful island. Caro & John
