Off grid adventure

4 of 5
We have visited Nova Scotia a few times and this year came specifically for the colours, both natural and Celtic festival. We were nicely placed in the cottage to reach Iona, Sydney and Baddeck. We were travelling as 4 adults and found this the maximum that felt comfortable in the cottage. We were advised at booking that we would be off grid. The gas lights add atmosphere but the photovoltaic panel provided enough power to actually run the electric lights if wanted plus the fridge comfortably. The jotel stove kept us warm on cold clear nights and the milky way was spectacular with no light pollution. We were supplied with plenty of spring water in containers, the tap water is not potable. Overall we had a lovely time. A couple of very small comments on a slightly negative front. The shower head would be a simple replacement as would a "plug" in the bathroom. Newer looking towels and bedding would give the place a more upmarket feel. Thank you for letting us stay.
