  • Lovely cottage in beautiful rural location but easy access to ferries, attractions and main routes.

Idyllic setting for family holiday. We did some day trips but also spent a lot of time just exploring the local woodland & coastline or sitting on the terrace while the children played in the garden. It is a decent size and well stocked for 8 people (though only one toilet). Glad we booked one 8 seater car as parking would have been difficult with 2 cars (although the owner’s mum lives next door where there is a lot of space so you may possibly be able to negotiate parking there - she seemed to want to be very helpful but unfortunately we don’t speak Norwegian and she doesn’t speak English!). Only issue for us, travelling with children, was that many of the bedroom windows don’t have curtains or have only very thin blinds - which meant early starts with summer sunrise being so early. Would recommend taking portable blackout blinds! Also, there are 5 life jackets available to use with the boat, but only one is a small child’s one. We found this out before and took our own for the other children - but worth knowing as the fjords is swimmable but very cold and deep.

  • Wild and natural - a perfect getaway

We had a lovely family holiday here, overlooking the beautiful lake, forests and mountains. It's quiet and natural and the perfect place to relax. It feels like you're in the wilderness, and yet a short drive to shops and ferries to Stavanger, and easy drives to plenty of beaches, sites and walks. We could have happily just relaxed in this house our entire fortnight, but it's also a perfect base for seeing the mountains and forests and fjords of this part of norway. There's also plenty to do with children, as Ronnie has enough toys for a hundred kids and even a trampoline outside. You can walk to a small beach or go out on the lake itself and we didn't want to leave! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who wants a "natural" holiday but doesn't want to be too far away from civilisation. Only thing to be aware of is that the directions should make it clearer how difficult it is to get to! It was fine for us (even with a two year old) and there are wheelbarrows to help with suitcases, but it is an approximately 10 minute walk from the car park with some steep bits... also, if we'd have known how many toys were at the house we could have saved on suitcase space!
