The landlord was there to meet us and filled us in on all the details we needed. The house was well equipped and the views from the house were amazing. We spent a lot of time watching porpoises and the changing mountains depending on the weather. We hired a boat and spent time on the fjord. It was a good half an hours drive to the larger supermarkets in Vik although there was a small shop in Arnafjord about 10 minutes away but it had limited stock and opening hours. Lovely walking nearby. Such a peaceful area. Would really recommend it. Just be aware it's literally at the end of the road so if you are planning any day trips everywhere is quite a long drive away!

We've just returned from a weeks stay in this lovely house. We found it exactly as described and had an excellent stay there. It had plenty of room for us and our 2 teenage children (who fought over the top floor bedroom!) and was very well equipped and comfortable. Therese, the owner, could not have been more helpful before we arrived and was a delight to meet in person, pointing us in the right direction for essential supplies, and there was plenty of information regarding local attractions in the house. Location was fabulous - fairly quiet residential area but with very easy and quick walking access to the centre of things. We ate in a lot to keep costs down and the house was well set up for this but had a lovely meal at the fish market on our last evening. Would recommend a trip up Mount Floyen on the funicular railway - stay all day as there's a lot to enjoy up there - and the Edvard Grieg museum is worth a half day visit. Sognefjord In A Nutshell is expensive but probably worth it for the boat trip alone! All in all, a very lovely house in a very pleasant and bustling small city. Would thoroughly recommend for families and groups of friends, bearing in mind that there are 3 floors accessed by wooden stairs so maybe not ideal if you have mobility issues.

I stayed here for a week with my niece & it was a highlight of our Norway road trip! The house was private, peaceful, warm & cosy (heating system as well as a fire), comfortable, fully-equipped ... and just look at that view! There is the water at the front that you can explore by boat or canoe (both included in the price of the property) and a forest at the back. We thoroughly enjoyed being so close to nature & were delighted to see a pair of white tailed eagles who are nesting close by. The TV channels are German or Norwegian (amusing for us English girls) & there is no wifi (you're in the middle of nowhere after all) - a true opportunity to 'get away from it all'. For location, it is very close to Bergen (we used the ferryboat & the bus from Kleppestø - both were quick, easy & cheap). But if you want to carry on the nature theme, there are lots of beautiful walks nearby - one starts after you follow a lane at the back of the Ask Spar supermarket, another around the nearby swimming area on the road to Kleppestø ... and there are lots of walks if you drive north to Herdla. As for our hosts, you won't find two nicer people :) I can't recommend this place highly enough!
