Even if you are not keen on arms, the building is worth a visit to see the stunning architecture and it gives some excellent views of the city. There is much more on offer for the visitor to see in Fes including the old medina, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Andalosian Mosque and the Aben Danan Synagogue.

Places to Visit on Holiday to Fes, Morocco

Approximately 36 kilometres to the south of Fes is the wonderful town of Imouzzer du Kandar. Settled in the early 1900s, the architecture of the town is interesting in that it is more reminiscent of an Alpine village than a traditional Moroccan town. Imouzzer du Kandar is a quiet town except on a Monday, when everyone flocks to the souk. The souk is held in the unusual underground dwellings of the Ait Seghrouchen tribe, which is worth a look. To the east of the town is the Djebel Abad, which has a watchtower offering stunning views of the Sais Plains and the rooftops of Fes in the distance.
