  • Wonderful holiday

A big thank you to Ruth and Arnold for allowing us to spend a week in their beautiful house in the centre of Essaouira for a week in July 2018. As a family of five adults we fully appreciated the different balconies and private areas as well as the high quality amenities. The house is very tastefully furnished and decorated with seating areas both inside and outside. The central courtyard is the heart of the house with the other communal areas surrounding and looking down on it. The previous week we had been in Marrakech and Rachid met our taxi by the main entrance to the Medina. He introduced us to the house but left us to explore and settle in. At the end of our stay he arranged for a taxi to take us to Marrakech airport. Saadia came in for a short while each day but left us to our own devices. One evening she cooked us two delicious meals, one with meat the other vegetarian. Best vegetarian tagine all holiday. For those of a similar disposition being a vegetarian in Essaouira is not difficult. Essaouira is a bustling coastal town with lots going on but without the edge of Marrakech. It has a good beach which is very easy to get to from the house with all the amenities you would expect. Look out for the Humphrey Bogart look alike waiter in the beach side restaurant. The shops and markets are fascinating and lots of good restaurants in the evening. We would definitely recommend Dar Zette to those who want to be close to the action but also value their peace and quiet at home. Mark and family

  • A real find with amazing views over the harbour

We'd seen the pictures but nothing could prepared us for just how lovely this Riad is. We cooed over the bedrooms but then when you get to the kitchen (the only room a little dated) and saw the outside terrace we really couldn't believe our luck! Then upstairs to the sun terrace and then a further one both with views that stretched out over the picturesque harbour (fans of Games of Thrones are in for a treat!) we knew we'd made the best choice in our booking. Because of how the Riad is built the bedrooms are like tombs, totally dark and silent so a great nights sleep is guaranteed. The Riad is literally a 1 minute walk from the main square and 3 minutes to the beach. You get a lovely housekeeper who comes in each day (the language barrier was quite fun but we got there) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back and have recommended it to anyone that will listen. We were only 3 luxuriating in a double room each and our own bathroom but there really is plenty of room for 6 comfortably, 8 if you didn't use the living space too much. Highly recommended!
