Holidaymakers looking to get away to a warm exotic destination can turn to North Africa for an affordable vacation. The Casablanca region in Western Morocco is a beautiful destination by the Atlantic Ocean with many interesting things to do. Here visitors will find numerous different places to stay including self catering accommodation, villas, cottages and apartments.

Things to do on holiday to Casablanca Region, Morocco

A popular beach in the region is Ain Diab where visitors will find several beach clubs featuring saltwater pools, restaurants and cafes. One of the beach clubs also has tennis and volleyball courts. Adults and children can enjoy various rides and other attractions at the Parc Sindibad, which is the only amusement park in the country.

Casablanca is an excellent golfing location with a few courses in the region including Bouznika golf course. If the weather is too much then a trip to the Rialto Cinema may be a welcome break as the building is a beautiful art deco style palace still showing movies. Holidaymakers may like to try out a camel ride with many excursions offered through the Sahara Desert.

There are many places to dine in Casablanca with traditional Moroccan eateries, seafood restaurants and take-away places. There are very few nightclubs in the city but visitors will find a number of discos that stay open until about 3am. Gifts and souvenirs can be found in numerous shopping areas including the old city where there are places to buy antiques and beautiful jewellery.

Places to visit on holiday to Casablanca Region, Morocco

There are a number of interesting places to visit here with sightseeing tours of the city offered to tourists. The city has many historic and religious buildings such as Cathedral of Sacre C’ur or the Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. The Hassan II Mosque is also an impressive building and the second largest mosque in the world.

Another interesting building in Casablanca is the Boulaouane Kasbah, which is a fortress overlooking the Wadi Oum er-Rbia River. Tourists will also find some galleries and museums in the region including Villa des Arts, which has many interesting art pieces. A five hour road trip to Marrakech will enable holidaymakers to find more historic and beautiful features including the impressive Agdal Gardens.

The hottest time of the year in Casablanca is usually July and August when the average maximum high temperature is about 26 degrees centigrade. There is hardly any rain between June and August. January and December see an average of six rainy days per month.

Travel to Casablanca Region, Morocco

The Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca offers flights to and from African and major European destinations. Royal Air Maroc is the biggest airline handling flights here with destinations including many North African and Middle Eastern cities as well as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome and Zurich amongst others. Taxis, buses and train shuttles carry passengers between Casablanca city and the airport. Car rental firms are also located at the airport.
