Make a holiday rental, home, or cottage in Tankah, Mexico your home away from home

Located 75 miles south of Cancun is a lovely getaway providing tourists with what they expect from a seaside destination; pristine white beaches, amazingly clear turquoise waters and gorgeous weather. Yet it doesn’t have the sometimes unnerving crowds that most popular seaside resorts tend to have. What it does have though is a mouth-watering array of accommodation options that range from huge luxury villas to lovely beachfront homes complete with swimming pools as well as the usual hotel rooms.

Things to do on holiday to Tankah, Mexico

While stretching themselves beneath a parasol and acquiring a tan is the ultimate goal of most visitors to Tankah, there are many other activities available to them. Taking the Caribbean Funday excursion is a good idea as you will get to go snorkelling and see some underwater monuments. Visitors can also hire a golf cart with which they can take a tour of the island at a leisurely pace. There is also kayaking, parachuting, ATV exploring and jet skiing for those who wish to add a bit of adventure to their holiday. Nature freaks will get their fix here as there is plenty of bird life as well as an opportunity to study marine biology.

A tourist favourite is the beach bars at which patrons get served their poison of choice while taking in the sweet ocean breeze. And there is the usual range of restaurants that serve local and international delicacies.

Places to visit on holiday to Tankah, Mexico

Visitors to a seaside resort like Tankah may not expect to find caverns with stalactites hanging from their roofs. But this is what they will find when they go on a guided tour of the Labna-Ha Magic Mayan World. And magical it is, starting with a diving into a cenote and including a bit of snorkelling in an underground river. A trip to the Mayan ruins is a must when in these parts. Visiting the Xaman Ha Aviary is also a good idea especially for those who are into bird watching as visitors will get to see 60 species of birds. The Xcaret nature park is worth a visit as there aren’t many places you’ll see jaguars, pumas, sea turtles and many other animals and a firelight Mayan ceremonial dance to top it off. The Yaax Che Jardin Botanico is a botanical garden in which visitors will see numerous species of tropical plants and trees that are native to the Yucatan peninsula. Holidaymakers can expect to see a variety of birds and monkeys as they walk through the garden.

Weather in Tankah, Mexico

Given its tropical location, Tankah has highly favourable weather patterns with hardly any break in the sunny climate. Temperatures are constantly in the 20s and 30s though they rarely go over the 30°C mark.

Casa Yardena was a wonderful vacation destination. Located in secluded Soliman Bay, it is set apart from the tourists of the surrounding towns. Our group of 12 found the staff extremely accommodating, even to some difficult customers. The chefs cooked some amazing food (get the fish tacos) and made great drinks. Most of our activity took place outdoors in the spacious pool area and quiet beach. The beach can be slightly rocky in places and upon entering the bay, but overall is peaceful and a wonderful place to enjoy a margarita or take one of the kayaks out into the shallow bay. The ruins of Tulum and adjacent bars and restaurants were an essential part of our stay. I would recommend having the villa manager hire a taxi to get into town in the evenings. Cash (dollars) is essential for tipping and ordering food/drink supplies. Don't rely on nearby ATMs as they do not always work and have hefty fees. The main house is spacious and comfortable but the outer rooms can get quite hot
