Our family stayed in this beautiful Santa Villa from 2nd to 29th Aug 2019. We were picked up from the Airport, and had a pleasant (sunny and beautiful scenery) ride to our villa, which was just over 1 hour or so.
We were greeted by Kiran and her family (Santa and Raj). The villa and pool was clean. Santa who was always around to assist us, provided key information and cooked us a lovely meal on our first night.
We checked in and just chilled for the night, and looked forward to making good use of the car which we hired at the same time of booking - I would recommend this, and just book another taxi when you depart (saves queuing/stressing at the airport).
The beach which was rocky (minutes away and great for finding crabs and so on), but you had the sandier beach near Meridian Hotel, again 10-15 mins walk, or a car ride you can find all the attractions/lovely beaches of: Troux Aux Biches, Pereybere, Grand Bai and Cap Malheurex (approx. 15/20 mins by car).
There were local shops (2 mins) to buy all your bits and pieces - you should sample the local freshly baked baguettes (08.30 onwards), chilli cakes and dohl puri), it's very cheap and tastes amazing.
We made good use of our hired car and travelled everywhere - Casella (walk with the lions and fed the giraffe), Le Morne (Hiking the mountain), Trou Deau Douce. Pamplemousse (botanical garden) is close by, and a great day to see the many flowers and plants (large water lilies). Chamarel (seven coloured earth) is a great day out, but can be tiring.
We mostly used Mont Choissy as our main beach, it was so nice to walk on the white sand, swim in the calm sea and see the sun set. You don't need to bring any food with you as there are local people selling amazing meals like: fried rice, noodles, samosas "gateux piment (chill cakes).
The pool was really handy to cool off, although it was winter, the weather was always hovering around 26-29, so come the afternoon at about 3-4pm we chilled/swam or went down Mont Choissy.
La Croisette in Grand Bai is a must for all the restaurants/shops - lots to do and see.
You must make time to visit the hustle and bustle of Port Louis market, to grab a bargain...
We will be returning again!!!
Our compliments to Santa and her family - we will always hold fond memories of our stay.
Merci beacoup et a bientot!
