Make a holiday rental property or accommodation on Kenya’s Coast, Africa your home away from home

The Kenyan Coast is a hidden piece of paradise, where the rich golden colour of the beaches compliments the dark blue of the sky and the green of the palm trees which provide the boundary between the beach and the mainland. All along the coast you can find unique symbols of European, African and Arabic cultures all of which make taking accommodation in Kenya’s coastal region even more atmospheric.

Things to do on holiday on the Kenya Coast

Safaris in Kenya are world famous, but you do not need to head deep into the countryside to see the best game. In fact, some of the largest wildlife reserves are in the coastal region, and if you are hoping to view some large game yet want to spend your holiday in Kenya in close proximity to the beach, you are in luck. The Tsavo National Park is a magnificent place to take a safari holiday in Kenya, allowing you to be back on the beach well before the end of the day.

It is the beaches which attract tourism to Kenya’s Coast. The golden, powdery sand which lines the coast stretches far into the horizon, backed by palm forests and lapped by the amazingly clear, warm waters of the Indian Ocean attract visitors in their droves. The beaches are not only a great place to sunbathe and relax, but the Indian Ocean also provides some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world. The marine parks of Watumu Bay, Malindi and Shimoni are home to completely unique habitats and animal species.

The waters of the Kenyan Coast are not fished commercially, meaning that fish can grow to extraordinary sizes. As a result, deep sea fishing for leisure has become famous as being quiet brilliant, and many people take accommodation in Kenya’s coastal region for this very reason.

The culturally orientated visitors to property in Kenya will be aware of the deserted ruins of Swahili coastal settlements which adorn the eastern coast of Kenya. Tourist information guides are very informative, meaning you can get a huge amount from a self-guided tour of Kenya’s ancient outposts.

Places to holiday on the Kenya Coast

Mombassa is Kenya’s oldest town, with a combination of ancient and modern. The twisting streets are filled with Arabic buildings, bazaars and antique shops, well worth visiting from holiday rental in Kenya.

The two most famous beach resorts, Malindi and Watamu are brilliant places to take self catering property in Kenya as they not only boast magnificent beaches, but the coral reefs just off shore are teeming with aquatic wildlife, much to the delight of divers and those with a snorkel.

Climate of Kenya’s Coast

Average annual temperatures are an amazing 28˚C, with temperatures rarely dipping below 21˚C. In summer, (during our winter), temperatures reach an average of 32˚C, during which time, the beaches and coastal waters of the Indian Ocean are an essential part of a holiday in Kenyan accommodation.

Of all the homes and resorts that we experienced across Kenya and Tanzania, Himaya house was our favorite! Not only is the house beautiful and artful and the location overlooking the ocean idyllic, the people of Himaya are warm, genuine and generous. The owner, Lissa, went out of her way to recommend special experiences and to accommodate our every need . She even took our 11-year-old son under her wing inviting him to help her care for the injured bush baby that she was fostering. The staff too went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, helping with everything from laundry to negotiating fair prices for our excursions in the area. & never have we eaten as well as during our stay at Himaya! Sammy’s cooking is exquisite. Himaya is truly a sanctuary; beautiful, peaceful and pleasurable.

We came to the Villa Soleil on our honeymoon, wondering what awaited us on our first trip to Africa. We came back from our honeymoon rested, relaxed, pampered, and determined to book again ASAP. "Team Soleil" made every part of our honeymoon special, from Wolfgang's friendly and helpful emails telling us everything we needed to know about preparing for the trip, to Musa's beautifully tended garden, to Eunice's warm smile and readiness to help with anything we needed, and especially chef Anthony's incredible cooking! Even on a honeymoon, we're not usually the types to hang around the house, but we honestly just didn't want to go anywhere else. We dipped in the pool, swung on the porch swing, watched films, and stuffed ourselves to bursting every day. We did wander down to the beach and it was lovely, no problems with beach boys at all. But it just couldn't compete with the beauty, privacy, and peace at the villa. Just to keep it real, there was one small imperfection-- the power went out a few times during our visit, which was annoying. However, I have heard that Wolfgang will be adding a generator to the property soon. If the property happens to be available, I can only say book it immediately!

Our third stay with the Neem House team - this says much about the hospitality and the setting of the house. Kick back, enjoy fantastic food and classic hospitality to go with this great food. Watch the fishermen off shore and maybe go take a look at the wildlife in the conservancy area. Choices are there and this a great place to enjoy yourself and savour the environment.
