Make holiday rental accommodation or a rental villa in Jamaica your home away from home

Jamaica is the most populated and possibly the most alluring of all the Caribbean Islands. There is a style of holiday in Jamaica to suit every taste in holidays, from the archetypal beach holidays to luxurious honeymoons, and from the lively tourist centres to the hidden secluded holidays in a Jamaican villa with an almost private beach, Jamaica offers it all. Anyway, which ever holiday rental villa in Jamaica you choose, there will be plenty of Jamaica’s famous three R’s to enjoy… Reggae, Rastas and Rum!

Things to do on holiday in Jamaica

Just being in Jamaica and soaking in the atmosphere provides a huge amount of entertainment and really puts a smile on your face, no matter how strenuous you find the flight. The island is truly beautiful, with the tropical forests and soaring mountains providing an idyllic backdrop to the white, powdery beaches upon which you will spend much of your holiday from a Jamaican villa. Diving and snorkelling from the beaches are some of the most celebrated activities, as the clear warm waters are home to a vast range of tropical fish and amazing mammals and the water is so clear that visibility is almost endless! Swimming with dolphins and deep sea fishing also come very high on the list.

If you are staying in accommodation in Jamaica away from the villages and towns of the coast, take a morning to investigate Kingston or Port Antonio. There are always things going on, whether you visit a colourful market, cricket match or game of dominoes, it is hard not to become involved!

Golf in Jamaica has become a massive sport, and there are more than 10 golf courses across the island. Golfers staying in Jamaica holiday villas will be enchanted by the combination of testing holes and stunning scenery.

Walking and cycling are the two best ways to explore the island. There are so many awe-inspiring sights that the more slowly you travel, the more you see. Natural places of beauty like Dunn’s River Falls are located all over the island, and there are some brilliant trails linking a few together for the keen walker of cyclist. Guided excursions of the Blue Mountains are particularly special if you would like to see some of the best views over the island.

There are a number of annual festivals which mean that accommodation in Jamaica is highly sought after, and if you would like to rent a villa in Jamaica during these periods, you must book early. The Jazz and Blues Festival in January, the Reggae Sumfest in July and the International Marlin Tournament in October are the biggest and most popular festivals.

If you have access to a boat, a good day trip would be to the Cayman Islands, or even sail all the way up to the Bahamas. Heading south, there are the islands of Aruba, Curacao or Bonaire to explore off the South American coast.

Climate in Jamaica

No matter when you decide to visit Jamaica, the tropical climate almost guarantees good weather. July and August are the hottest months to take a Jamaican holiday villa, when average temperatures reach around 28°C. There is only about a 10°C difference between the warmest and the coolest days, so no matter when you decide to go away, you will be able to sit on the balcony of your accommodation in Jamaica with a cool cocktail, watching the sun go down!

Self Catering Jamaica - Holiday Rentals (300+)

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful villa. Will definetly stay there again!!!!

5 of 5
My computer was giving me trouble so I booked the villa over the phone. The owner Mr Appleton was very professional. I’ve been to Jamaica before and stayed in hotels but had never rented a private villa. I decided to come out of my comfort zone and rent the villa for 5 nights. My only regret is that I didn’t spend my entire holiday there. The villa is in a beautiful location i.e. right next to Riu Hotel Ochi Rios Mammee Bay. The entrance to the exclusive estate is on the same road as Dunn’s River Fall, Dolphin Cove, a Horse Riding establishment and many more, allowing me to see many attractions whilst cutting down on costs. The Knutsford express depot is also close by so we would readily get around the island for a fraction of the cost. When my party of family and friends arrived we were greeted by the residential manager Chris and Ms Pet the housekeeper. When Chris showed us around the villa, huge smiles radiated from our faces. It was beautiful!! The rooms were clean, grounds planted with tropical and fruit trees. My teenage sons were happy and could not wait to jump into the pool. I new from that point that our holiday had begun. We had lunch and sometimes dinner at Blu Bamboo Restaurant which is located on Mammee Bay beach which is about 5 minutes walk from the villa. Chris was on call day and night to meet our needs and did so without any reservations. He suggested places of interest, local eateries, advised the best mode of transport for our trips and introduced us to a nearby ice cream shop which we visited everyday. Unlike the hotel the villa allowed us to spend time together but also allowed us to have and enjoy our own space whilst soaking up real Jamaican ‘vibes’. We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful villa and cannot wait to return.

Such a relaxing location!

5 of 5
This apartment is a real home from home. My partner and I stayed there for two weeks and were sorry to leave. Booking was simple and the owner, Dulcia, very responsive to emails and super helpful. Key was ready for us on arrival, alongside useful information to help us during the stay; air conditioning was on which we were grateful for. The provision of beach towels was really helpful! Charmaine, who cleaned etc for us every day was fantastic, and well deserved of a tip at the end. Towels were changed daily and everything was kept very fresh! Nice shower (water quick to heat up), good kitchen with all the equipment (oven, hob, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer) you need. Lounge was comfortable and there were many TV channels (if you wanted something to watch); news (local/other), documentaries.children's TV and movies. We had a few issues with the WIFI, but Dulcia was quick to try and resolve. The apartment does pick up the WIFI from reception (we discovered) so it wasn't much of an issue. Great balcony which we had breakfast on every morning. Bed was huge and comfortable. We found with the aircon and fan it was just right temp for sleeping. Lots of cupboard/drawer space was helpful. The extras...e.g. safe, hairdryer, clothes airer, iron+board were much appreciated. Clearly much thought has gone into this unit! Pool was well looked after and great for a swim, hardly busy when we were there. The dedictaed loungers for the aprtment were much used but there were others available. We swam in the beach 'pool' every day...the home of quite a few fish and an eel as we discovered while snorkelling. I would recommend bringing beach/wet suit shoes, as there are a few rocks but also these are needed for other excurions such as Dunns River Falls and the Blue Hole. My other half swam out of the beach pool on the calmer days; not to be recommended when the sea is rough as the 'gap' is guarded by rocks. Security at this complex 24hr and gates are closed overnight, allowing pedestrian access. We ate at Glenn's across the road for both breakfast and dinner, highly recommend this very reasonable and very friendly establishment (they do take away which we had following our arrival early evening). Also had some great jerk chicken at the Jerk Centre just up the road. We used route taxis to go into town, and would recommend. Dulcia even sent us Easter bread, cheese and mangoes as a gift as we were there then! Perfect host with a lovely place! THANKS
