Firstly we had a very disastrous start to our holiday, the hire car company didn't take debit cardswhen we went to pick up the car, we were devastated as we knew we needed this car to get to the villa. So there we were me and my girlfriend at 10 o'clock at night stranded after a days travel, I rang Jane the host not expected much more than "I'm sorry to hear but ...." That didn't happen, Jane was absolutely lovely on the phone and emailed us with directions from the airport to the centre of Florence, where we would catch a train and meet her at the Pontassieve station. Bearing in mind this was very late at night I cannot overstate how Jane basically saved our holiday. After all of drama and we got to the villa it was beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice. There was a helpful guide in our room with suggestions of restaurants and places to visit nearby. The wine tasting at the Castle just above the villa was a highlight of the trip, a great location and was very welcoming of a complete wine novice such as myself. To sum up the hosts are lovely, the location is brilliant, a variety of things to do close-by and remember to correctly book when getting a hire car! Tom and Lola

It is beautifully done up and perfect to come back to after a day's sight seeing. The decor is fabulous and everything you need is provided. It is within an easy walk of all the main sights and you can't beat walking over the ponte vecchio every day. It is up quite a steep hill but it's worth it for the views that you get. The hosts are perfect and very welcoming and the apartment is just like it is in the pictures. My only complaint was we weren't there long enough! I would highly recommend staying there!

High on a hillside, amid olive groves, this villa is great for a relaxing family holiday in the Mediterrenean warmth. The pool is lovely - just right to cool off on a 30C+ day and very nice as a relaxing focal point after a long day out. There are tonnes of shady spots to sit in, and little activities like table tennis and boules. Our only problem was getting our teenagers off the WiFi (although it does *just* reach to the pool) and out into the sunshine. If your kids are old enough to not need full time supervision, you can have some very relaxing days here with a book and refills of Prosecco. Cooking facilities are great - Brits might miss a kettle, but you're in Italy, so drink Espresso! Supermarkets are down in Dicomano, open 7 days a week, and have everything you're going to need to cook far better and fresher than you can in much of the UK. Rooms are comfy and spacious, with enough modern touches (particularly in the bathroom) to enjoy their historic feel without being back in the dark ages. WiFi is fast, even when several of your family are YouTubing. Although we were the very first of the season, and had the place entirely to ourselves, everything was clean and ready for us. Alberto was onsite just about all the time, and was happy to cook quite wonderfully for us, and at a great price compared to standard restaurants. He was also incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout - Anglophones don't be put off by "Owner speaks French". Alberto's English is excellent, and Paolo's is very good; we conversed in a mixture of his good English and my not so good French. I can imagine that this would be a superb location for an extended family or group of friends who want the balance between staying together, with options to do their own thing in the day. Location wise, if you want to go to further afield in Tuscany - say to Pisa, Siena or San Gimiano, it will be a whole day trip. It's a good couple of hours each way. But Florence is close enough, and very affordable by train. UK Train commuters will be incredulous at the prices. And the Mugello has its own charms. But maybe not if this is your once in a lifetime trip to Tuscany and you want to see everything. Remember, relaxing, calm, beautiful. Not high energy or at the centre of things.
