Overall: It was wonderful. We did not use the living room at all or the dining room as we were either outside by the pool, under the pergola or in the kitchen and of course, in the bedrooms or taking showers, etc. The kitchen was small but cozy and would be where we would sit and talk about the day. All of us were never in at one time, so it worked out. The table outside the kitchen was used by one or more several times. Enjoyed Most: The outside was definitely our favorite, with the view and the grounds. Loved the pool. During the day, there was a tranquility and beauty to it. Our group always has good conversation and laughter and that continued, however I noticed that people were either together or taking the opportunity to be off by themselves reading or sleeping or relaxing. The bedrooms were nice. Enjoyed Least:Interrupted sleep because of barking neighbor dogs. Surrounding Area: The history, the beauty, the people, the unspoiled quality of the countryside. Nearby Events or Locales: Volterra. No. Wonderful view of it at night. Tips or Restaurants: I was relying on the group and several of them had Rick Steves' books. In Lucca we found a wonderful restaurant - friendly, great ambiance - my friend checked and it was in Rick Steves. Directions: I would definitely put directions in from all sides and possible ways of coming. We came from Florence and we encountered a 439 and went to marker 11 and drove and drove because we didn't understand that the letters underneath made it a different road. Several people had GPSs. Check In Out: It went smoothly.
