The Val d’Elsa, which takes its name from the River Elsa, is a gentle, rural territory with grove covered hills and wooded plains, dotted with medieval villages and towns, each adding to the numerous attractions and delightful atmosphere. Holidays to the Val d’Elsa invigorate the senses, offering stunning scenery, the soft aromas of olive groves and vineyards, and the delightful food, served beautifully by the age old family restaurants found across the Val d’Elsa. For this reason, taking self catering holiday accommodation and travelling slowly through the region of foot or by bicycle has become a very popular way to discover this beautiful area of Siena, Italy, and there are many routes to fill any cycling or walking holiday to the Val d’Elsa.

The old medieval part of Colle Val d’Elsa, the ‘colle alta’, which stands proudly at the highest part of the town, has a magnificently well preserved medieval structure, with many buildings and points of interest to soak in, as soon as you leave the front door of your holiday villa in Val d’Elsa, Siena. The centre of town is dominated by the beautiful Cathedral of Barberino Val d’Elsa, from which breath taking views of the Val d’Elsa spread in every direction. Around the ‘colle alta’ lie the immense walls and fortifications which served the city well during its long, violent history. Considered a turning point in fortified architecture, the Volterra Gates is an un-missable attraction when staying in holiday accommodation in Val d’Elsa.

The Abbadia Golf Club in Colle di Val d’Elsa provides the ideal place to enjoy a round whilst staying in Val d’Elsa accommodation. From a holiday letting, the golf course is available to all, as are the driving range, putting green, pitching green and 6 hole course to blow away the cob-webs before tackling the full course.

Timignano is a great place to combine relaxing and visiting. The apartment is really nice, clean, well equiped and comfortable. The swimming pool has a great view on the beautiful surrounding lanscape. Photos presented on the website correspond completely to what we experimented during our stay. Fabio and Sarah, thank you very much for your welcoming ! When possible, we would love to come back.

Overall: we all just loved it and nobody wanted to leave. We had 6 adults and 6 children and the villa was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably and give us space. It was the type of experience that you could not repeat as it was just so special. Roberto and Manuela were most helpful. Roberto helped us when we had a puncture on one of the cars...he also gave some of the adults an excellent tour of the wine cellars and a wine tasting of the wines produced on the Property. The property was very well appointed and well equipped. Everything was really of excellent quality. If we had any issues or queries we just had to ring them and they would come and attend to it. Enjoyed Most: The view, space, the kids loved the swimming pool, the outdoor eating area where we could sit around and relax and chat after meals. Enjoyed Least: WIFI was erratic Surrounding Area: visiting the surrounding towns.. we also managed to see some of Il Palio in Siena. We caught the local train to Florence where we spent the day. excellent restaurants recommended by the managers of the Property. Nearby Events or Locales: Poggibonsi . We had to drive there. However the COOP was excellent for shopping with fresh produce and all sorts of interesting food to try. Tips or Restaurants: we bought a clothesline and tied it up between 2 trees. good for hanging wet swimming gear out to dry. Check In Out: It would be good to have written instructions on how to use air conditioning, oven, tv etc.Take care with use of air conditioning ..it can really run away with you. I did not realise that the daily cleaning of the swimming pool was an extra cost. I just assumed that it was included in the overall rental cost.
