The walled city of Urbino has many historic sites for visitors to explore. Arguably the main attraction here is the Palazzo Ducale, which dates back to the 16th century and houses a great collection of Renaissance paintings at the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche. Also located in this great place are Raphael’s House and Monument, Palazzo Albani, Palazzo Odasi and Palazzo Passionei. The Albornoz Fortres in Urbino dates back to the 14th century and is now a public park. There are many fantastic churches here too, many of which date back to medieval times. Nature lovers will also enjoy the botanical gardens in Urbino. Just 50 minutes drive away is the town of Pesaro, which has many fantastic sights including the Ducal Palace and the Romanesque Cathedral Basilica. Ancona is an hour and a half away and has more interesting buildings including a cathedral and numerous churches.
