The big draw for this property is clearly the view, and you won't be disappointed! If anything, the photos don't do it justice.
There are plenty of places to enjoy the view from. As well as the pool area (on the lower level), there is a large patio area in front of the house with seating where you can relax, eat, drink, and soak up those views. There is also a small table at the top of the stairs leading up to the front door - perfect for breakfast! Not to mention the huge picture window in the living room where you can relax on the sofa and still marvel at the view.
The apartment is lovely and spotlessly clean. The large living/dining room is great for relaxing. The TV mostly has German channels, though there were a couple of English-language news channels (it also has HDMI connectors, if you want to use the wi-fi to stream your favourite show). There's no air conditioning, but the windows had anti-insect screens which meant they could be left open. Along with shutters to keep the Sun out, it did an excellent job of keeping the place cool, even with the near 30 degree temperatures we had!
The shower-room and double bedroom are both a good size. The kitchen was a little on the small side, though this wasn't a problem as we didn't spend much time cooking given how many lovely restaurants are nearby. Although small, the kitchen was very well equipped. As well as crockery, pots and pans, it was kitted out with lots of little things you don't often see in a rental property, like kitchen towel, washing up liquid, herbs, and spices. It really gave the place a feel of being a proper home away from home.
The location is perfect! Not just the view, but the peace and quiet was amazing, even though it took just 5 minutes to drive down to the main Lake road from where you could explore the region.
Finally the hosts are the most lovely people. Birgitta and her husband were very friendly and welcoming, leaving us generous gifts of wine and beer on our arrival. They were on-hand to deal with any problems, but never intrusive so we really felt we had the place to ourselves.
Two things to note: the property is only available to rent from Sunday to Sunday. Also there is a final cleaning charge of €95 for a 1 week stay though, even with this, the apartment is still incredibly good value for money!
In short: stop reading this and book your holiday now!
A clean and tastefully furnished house, high up on the hills overlooking Lake Maggiore, approached by a series of hairpin bends and with a fantastic restaurant within a two minute drive. What more could you want, except a longer stay!
