Make a holiday rental home or villa in Tivoli, Italy your home away from home

Tivoli is located 30km from the city of Rome, at the falls of the Aniene River. The town is revered as a hub of arts and culture, with two of the most visited monuments in the whole country being in Tivoli – namely Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, two hugely impressive 16th century constructions. Tivoli apartments are a great base for exploring this fascinating destination, as well as for visiting the famous city of Rome.

Things to do in Tivoli, Italy

Tivoli's elevated position means that from various points around the village far-reaching and stunning views can be had out over the Roman Campagna – the low-lying area that surrounds the city of Rome. This area is great for walking and hiking, and you can even hire a bicycle from the centre of the town, if you want to cover more distance in the same amount of time.

Tivoli is perhaps best known for its sights of historical interest, in particular the Villa d'Este, which was constructed in the 16th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The villa is a top example of Renaissance architecture and surrounded by some glorious gardens – ideal for a stroll in a hot summers afternoon. Equally as impressive is the Roman archaeological complex known as Hadrian's Villa, which contains a number of sculptures and other works of art. A further structure in Tivoli is the Castle of Rocca Pia, which was built by Pope Pius II in 1461 as a symbol of papal power.

Shops, cafés, bars and supermarkets can all be found in Tivoli, and those on a self-catering holiday will be well at home here.

Places to visit on holiday in Tivoli, Italy

A Tivoli apartment can be used as a base for visiting Rome, and the home of the Colosseum, the Vatican, many parks and gardens and over 900 churches can be reached by car in less than 45 minutes. Closer to Tivoli are some of the other towns and villages of the Rome province, including the wine-producing settlement of Castelli Romani – known as a playground for Italy's rich and famous.

Weather in Tivoli, Italy

A holiday in Tivoli is perhaps best enjoyed between June and September, when the daily temperature is usually above 25C and there is plenty of sunshine and clear skies. Autumn and winter are mild, and cheaper rental prices also make these popular times in which to visit Tivoli.

Flights to Tivoli, Italy

Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA) is the nearer of the two airports, being 40km from Tivoli. Budget airlines Ryanair and easyJet both fly to this destination from a number of UK airports, so plenty of bargain flights are there to be had. Departure airports include Bristol, Newcastle, Liverpool, London Stansted and Glasgow.

we stayed a while ago in this extremely well located apartment ; it is the combination of the location- literally in the shadow of the Pantheon- and the quietness ( you actually hear nothing but some birds) that make this place so unique. In a rather shabby little street you get access to the apartment through a beautiful green door with polished copper details. After approx. 60 steps -no there is no elevator- you enter the beautifully decorated apartment that easily sleeps 4 ( two large bedrooms and two rather small but well equipped bathrooms). If you decide not to take your morning coffee in one of the excellent bars in the neighboring streets, you can take advantage of the kitchen and do the coffee routine ( or cook a complete meal if you feel like doing that) yourself. In the adjacent living room , a very large and another large sofa allow you to sit back and relax after another buzzy day in ancient Rome. And if you want, you can even step outside and enjoy the small yet inviting terrace!! candles lights make the romantic picture complete. obviously, there is room for improvement: the floor isn't exactly what you would be looking for , but I understand from the owner that overtime, together with more improvements, this issue will be tackled . So all in all , great experience and a place to come back to.

Lovely apartment close to Vatican, restaurants...

We had a lovely short break, staying in Paola's apartment. She was very helpful, welcoming and sorted out a restaurant for us on our first night when we arrived late - even taking us there herself! The rooms are beautiful, well furnished with all you could need. Lovely bakery/café just opened very close buy with cakes to die for. Rome itself is just amazing - we walked miles, used the local buses and found everyone helpful and welcoming. Thank you Paola!
