Make a holiday rental villa or accommodation in Sorrento, Italy your home away from home

Sorrento clings gamely onto a cliff top overhanging the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Bay of Naples. Its combination of sun, scenery and cuisine has helped make Sorrento the premium location to take a holiday villa on the Neapolitan Riviera, where life revolves around the numerous restaurants and pavement cafes of the main square, the Piazza Tasso. Taking accommodation in Sorrento means that you can decide to enjoy a hectic exploration of the main tourist attractions of Camapania, a leisurely indulgence of all the finest food, wine and sightseeing in the town itself or a busy but relaxing holiday on the beaches of the Bay of Naples and the Almalfi coast. A Sorrento holiday genuinely is exactly what you make of it!

Things to do in Sorrento, Italy

When you first arrive in Sorrento accommodation, you will almost certainly be overcome by the views and the shear number of historical sites. The main square is the hub of activity and social interaction in the town, changing from a calming spot to enjoy a coffee to a nightlife centre daily. There are an enormous number of top class restaurants in the town, with cuisine taken from around the world.

Sorrento accommodation is an ideal place from which to head onto the peninsula, which is particularly popular with walkers. Information on the best walks is available from the Sorrento tourist information centre on Piazza San Antonino.

There is no actual beach at Sorrento, but if you would like to feel the sand between your toes, there are many beaches in the area to discover, including the delightful Puta de Capo beach. If you are after a swim in the sea, you have a wide choice of wooden and concrete swimming piers along the base of the cliffs from which to take a dip.

Places to holiday in Sorrento, Italy

A Sorrento villa or apartment acts as the perfect base for exploration in the Naples area. The historical treasure of Pompeii, the Islands of Capri and Ischia and the beaches of the Almalfi Coast are all close enough to be able to investigate in a day, and allow you to get back to your Sorrento accommodation in time for a leisurely drink overlooking the Bay of Naples or a hearty supper in the town.

Weather in Sorrento, Italy

Sorrento’s Mediterranean climate means that summers are long and hot, hot enough to convince the most cold blooded of people to swim in the sea! Average temperatures reach over 28?C from June until the end of August, with daily peaks flying past the 30?C mark. In winter, Sorrento is much quieter, as temperatures drop to around 10?C, but many of the Sorrento villas and apartments are still being used as an exploratory base.

Flights to Sorrento, Italy

Sorrento is very well connected to the area through road, rail and sea, which is why so many people take holiday accommodation in Sorrento as a calm, scenic alternative to taking a holiday rental in Naples. Arriving at Sorrento accommodation could not be much easier, as flights arrive into Naples Capodichino Airport (RRO), just a few miles away. Busses run regularly to the main square in Sorrento.

Comfortable, spacious, convenient, lacked a few basics

4 of 5
Very convenient for the station and buses, and not far to walk into town. Local restaurant very good for our first evening meal, but take away pizzas towards end of our stay were truly terrible; we should have complained. Clean, comfortable, good air con., but apartment basic rather than homely: no books, DVD player, radio etc. We had to improvise a plug for the kitchen sink. There wasn't a sharp kitchen knife, and cutlery was flimsy. A coffee table or similar in the sitting room would have been helpful. As we were there for ten days we would have expected a change of linen at no extra cost. We would have liked BBC or Sky News on TV. Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed living in the apartment and would recommend it to others. Antonio was very helpful settling us in, and Marcia very charming on our departure. We were sorry to leave the apartment which provided us with an excellent base from which to explore Sorrento and the locality.

Great Location to see the best of Italy

4 of 5
Five of us stayed at Villa La La for 14 Days. We have three children aged 6 to 11. The villa is in a great location set in the hills overlooking Sorrento and mount Vesuvius in the distance. The views are striking !!!!! The Villa is very spacious with plenty of space both indoors and out. The pool is ample size for a dip after a days touring or for the kids to play around in but is is by no means massive. The location makes a car essential in my opinion with the closest town with all essentials only be a 5 minute drive. However the roads for a family are unsafe to walk on The owner lives in a timber framed house on the same site approx 20M from the villa, but is the only neighbour close to the villa. Privacy is given by Maurizto but he is on hand if needed. He has two dogs and they have free roam of the grounds including pool areas and all outside areas. I would suggest if members of the family are uneasy with dogs to let Maurizto know so he can make provisions. The villas location is its strong point however other parts of it really now show there age. The accommodation is adequate for a comfortable stay but is far from luxurious. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone the Pro's far far outweigh the Cons and the cost by comparison to other villas we looked at make is very very good value for money. Maurizto skippered a boat for us over to capri, if you do one thing while you are on the amalfi coast do this. The boat ride is amazing (Great for the kids) and Capri was by far my high point of the holiday. Also the grottos are well worth a swim in. With a very small amount of money spent, this really would be a clear 5 out of 5. Thanks for everything Maurizto we had a great time and enjoyed meeting you.
