We had a wonderful week in Villa Mark. Our flight was delayed and we had a long queue at passport control in Olbia but were given a wonderfully warm welcome by Giovanna and Gavino who had chilled prosecco and local cakes for us when we arrived.
The villa itself was exactly as described and we enjoyed both the private garden with its views out to sea and the pool which was always very quiet and peaceful. As we’ve found with other pools in Italy it couldn’t be used between ‘quiet time’ 13:00 – 15:00 which whilst a little annoying just meant that we timed our beach trips so that we were out at that time.
There were many nice beaches around and, despite it being high season, we always managed to park without problem. The parasols that were available in the apartment were a bonus and used daily! The beach at Stintino was amazing and well worth the drive.
Lu Bagnu itself is a small town with a small supermarket and a few nice restaurants but as you’ll probably have a car to visit the many beaches we'd recommend trying some of the other nice places around. Our favourite meal probably being in Rocca Ja – amazing views!
We saw Giovanna and Gavino a few times during our stay and whilst they couldn’t speak English nor us Italian we managed to converse enough for them to be sure that we were having a good time and that there were no problems.
The only comments we have are that despite ‘wireless internet’ being listed as a feature we saw no evidence of this. There were no networks available and nothing within the villa to suggest it was there. To be fair we didn’t check with Roberto as for our limited use we simply used our own phone data for but someone relying on this might want to check. And, the bin system is incredibly complex. From an environmental point of view it is great but with the ‘threat’ of a 50 euro deduction from the deposit if rubbish is left we weren’t sure what to do as paper, glass, plastics etc. are only collected once a week on different days. This could have meant that despite using the bins properly we'd have left with 4-5 days rubbish in them. We found it easier to simply take our daily rubbish to the beach with us where there were always big separate bins for plastic, glass, paper etc.
If visiting Sardinia again we would probably go to a different part just as there is so much to see but for anyone looking to stay ithis area we would 100% recommend this villa. Thank you Roberto and of course Giovanna and Gavino
