A holiday rental home in Scicli is a wonderful option for your next Italian holiday

There are many wonderful little towns in Sicily and Scicli is one that makes a wonderful choice for a holiday. Located close to many of popular attractions and beautiful beaches, a holiday rental home in Scicli will give you all of the comforts of home and make you want to come back year after year.

Things to do on holiday to Scicli

There is never a reason to be bored whilst on holiday to Scicli. In addition to the sandy beaches that seem to go on and on, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Consider a trip to Lago Santa Rosalia. Just a 20 minute drive from Scicli, visitors to this lake can kayak and canoe. This is a great way to explore the area. The trip around the entire lake will only take about 3 hours. Other options include fishing, shopping, dining and exploring the many nearby historical sites and museums. Many companies offer guided tours or you can set your own pace and explore on your own.

Places to visit on holiday to Scicli

It’s a good idea to choose a couple of museums to visit, even if you come to Scicli just for the beach. That way, you’ll have a backup plan just in case there is a rainy day during your visit.

The Ibleo Archaeological Museum features a large number of artefacts dating from prehistoric through Roman times. There are also a number of buildings that are architecturally important. One, built in 1706, is the Cathedral of San Giovanni.

Weather in Scicli

In general, the weather in Sicily tends to be a bit warmer than more northern parts of the country. In the summer, this means quite hot days that often reach to the mid-30’s. Whilst this makes for wonderful beach weather, many prefer instead to plan their holiday to Scicli in the spring when the crowds are smaller and the days a bit cooler. Spring temperatures bring a low average of about 12 degrees and average highs of about 19 degrees. It cools down considerably in the winter months, but it is still milder than in other parts of the country. Winter lows average about 8 degrees.

Travel to Scicli

Those travelling to Scicli will often fly into Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA). This airport is about 120 km from Scicli, but it is often a better choice than Comiso Airport (CIY). Comiso is a bit closer, but service is still a rather limited. Recent expansions at the airport, however, have improved service and more and more flights will likely be added over the next few years. There are railway stations nearby as well.

A large 2 bedroom apartment in an 18th century building in the centre of a delightful town

5 of 5
My wife and I had a simply perfect 10 day stay in this lovely apartment. Stefania and her mother do a truly professional service with every little thing thought of and provided, and immediate assistance offered when needed. Some might consider the bathroom compact, but then this was not a consideration when this amazing building was constructed a few hundred years ago, and the other rooms and furnishings are entirely in keeping with making us feel like the baron and baroness in our own palazzo. In addition, it is bang in the centre of Scicli with all restaurants shops and bars within yards. The real joy was that there were virtually no foreign tourists except us even though we were there in July/August, and so we could just enjoy this beautiful town in its natural state. Sicilians are polite, friendly, helpful and utterly charming!
