Make a holiday rental villa or apartment in Sassari, Italy your home away from home

Sassari is a Province in Sardinia, Italy, deep in the clear waters of the Mediterranean. Famed for its beaches, gastronomy and exotic Spanish influenced architecture, the Sassari Province has a sun-blessed, laid back atmosphere encompassing both the marvellous beach resorts of the coast and the settlements of the rural interior.

Things to do on holiday in Sassari, Italy

Much of the tourist activity you will encounter from a Sardinia villa in Sassari will revolve around the beach. The coastline is one of the most extraordinary in Italy, with white sand beaches adorning the front of tiny, secluded coves, separated by soaring white, cave adorned cliffs.

From any Sassari apartment, the towns and villages of the interior must be visited, even if it means taking an afternoon away from the coast. The Romanesque churches, architectural and archaeological gems which decorate the majority of settlements are quite beautiful, and the morning markets provide glorious fresh produce, especially seafood and olives, which in turn mean that taking self catering accommodation in Sassari a real treat.

Places to go on holiday in Sassari, Italy

The town of Sassari at the provinces centre has an undeniably Spanish feels, with exquisite white washed buildings and stunning carved bridges. The remarkable architecture is due to Sassari being under Spanish rule for many years, and the town being a particular favourite of the Spanish Royal Family.

If you are staying in any kind of lodging in Sassari, from luxury villa to a self catering apartment, you will almost certainly visit Alghero. It is a magnificently authentic and relaxed beach resort with a genuine Italian feel, despite the long Spanish connection. The cobbled streets are crammed with boutiques, fine restaurants and timeless cafes which make taking a Sassari holiday apartment here so enjoyable.

Valledoria is ideally situated, concealed in the Coghinas Valley, adjoining the coast. From a Sassari villa in Valledoria you can investigate much of the region or simply walk down to the beach and swim.

Weather in Sassari, Italy

Sassari holidays are blissfully warm, with average temperatures in July and August reaching 30˚C. Winters are cool, averaging around 5˚C from December until the end of February.

Travel to Sassari, Italy

When you take a villa in Sassari, you will fly into Alghero Airport (AHO). Ryanair fly daily from Stansted (STN) direct to Alghero, which makes Sassari hugely accessible and Sassari holidays very cheap.

Wonderful holiday

4 of 5
Villa Marco was a lovely and very homely place, we had a very relaxing time there. Clean, tidy and everything you could need. Beach is around a 10-15 min walk, nice bar and restaurant there too for lunch or evenings. There is also a supermarket, pharmacy and restaurant in walking distance, but will need a car to go into the main area of Bodoni, its only about 3 miles away but the roads a bit dark to walk and we didn't see any taxi's. However we loved just sitting outside after dinner back at the villa having a few drinks rather than staying in town. Would certainly return for another peaceful and chilled week. There is 2 villas on here in case you hadn't realised.

Lovely self-contained small villa in beautiful location

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed for a week for our silver wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The villa was comfortable and had a beautiful view over the garden and open countryside to the sea, it also felt private because of its separate location and parking. The weather was a bit changeable when we stayed, but we spent every night on the veranda watching the sunset/ clouds/ stars or moon and listening to gentle clonking of sheep and cow bells (not loud enough to hear indoors and together sounding a bit like a wind-chime). We snorkelled from 7 or 8 different beaches and watched spectacular waves crash in on the days when the weather prevented this. We visited ancient ruins, attractive towns (Alghero is not too far away) and spectacular caves. We could have eaten out more than we did...but we wanted to be back on the balcony by sunset, so we settled for barbecued fish, pasta, salad, bread, cheeses and wine 'at home'. Wherever we went the people were really welcoming and tolerant of our minimal Italian. It was a fantastic holiday and we'd go back tomorrow if we didn't have to work!
