  • We really enjoyed our stay in this charming house

The house was charming and had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and relaxed. We were met by Roberto and his family who helped us find our way from within Sant"Alfio. We were late arriving due to having to wait a long time for car hire at Catania airport and then getting lost. (Our advice would be to use Google maps or sat nav to find the right road out of Catania at night...). Roberto kindly provided us with some basic groceries as it was too late to shop or eat out. His son was on hand to help translate as we have few Italian words. The houses aspect, at the apex of two roads, means that you enter the house up a few steps but on this "ground floor" you are in the main considerably elevated from the road whilst the bedroom, although downstairs, is at street level on one side of the house. Their house has a large homely living room with Bathroom and Kitchen attached and access to patio and garden. Downstairs is the bedroom. The bathroom had a good shower with plenty of towels, soap etc. The kitchen had almost everything you might need to cook your own meals. Four ring hob and oven and big capacious fridge. The washing machine is also located here. The patio with vine covered arbour is where we spent quite a lot of time, eating, drinking, reading and generally relaxing. There is a wonderful view of Mount Etna. The living room has a big table, a good place to spread out maps if planning a journey. There is satellite TV with all the channels you could probably ever want, if watching TV on holiday is your thing. The bedroom has a large comfortable bed and is lovely and cool, great to take a siesta in the afternoon. We really enjoyed our stay here and relished its relatively isolated location for the quiet and relaxation. We think you need a car and there is safe parking on the road outside. It was a good place to tour around the local area including driving up to Etna. Within a short walking distance, at the ancient chestnut tree, there are three places to eat and a cafe with wifi. All in all a relaxing time which we both enjoyed immensely and we would recommend this property highly.
