Make a holiday apartment in Santa Cesarea Terme your home away from home

The beautiful seaside and spa resort of Santa Cesarea Terme lies on a stretch of the Adriatic Coast in southern Italy, famed for its prehistoric caves, natural woods and lush meadows.  The area is a favourite haunt of nature lovers and forms part of a protected regional coastal park.  Santa Cesarea Terme sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea and is famous for its natural springs.  These are the biggest attractions: visitors come from all over the world to bathe in its sulphur-rich thermal waters and curative muds.  The town itself is an attractive location with seafront promenades lined with cafés, shops and restaurants.

To help guests unwind in style and keep them close to the main sights, HomeAway has a wonderful selection of apartments and holiday villas in Santa Cesarea Terme.  These are beautifully furnished and come with good facilities such as washing machines, freezers and coffee makers, and benefit from excellent locations in town or the surrounding countryside.  There are Santa Cesarea Terme holiday apartments that are close to the sea and enjoy gorgeous views.  For families after beach holidays there are some wonderful sandy expanses in the neighbouring resorts of Otranto and Castro Marina as well as a good selection of rental properties.

Things to do

-Relaxation: By far the biggest reason that travellers rent Santa Cesarea Terme holiday apartments is the town’s thermal baths situated in four grottos. The mineral rich warm waters are believed by some to cure skin and joint ailments, and respiratory diseases.  Massages, mud baths, hot humid inhalations and cosmetic treatments are also available at some of the spa centres.

-Outdoors: The Santa Cesarea Terme area is blessed by nature. Within a few kilometres of the town tourists will find the Grotto Romanelli and Grotto Zinzulusa with its sparkling waters and stalactite and stalagmite formations.  Also nearby is the Porto Badisco coastal park that charms with its unspoiled nature, superb beaches and snorkelling opportunities.  According to mythology the Trojan hero Aeneas landed here after fleeing Troy.

-Architecture: During the late 19th century and early 20th century members of the upper class and aristocracy from Salento used to holiday here.  They have left a rich architectural legacy with Art Nouveau and Art Deco manors and Moorish influenced homes with domes and ornate balconies.

-Nightlife: Santa Cesarea Terme has a good collection of restaurants, cafés and inns that serve regional and international cuisines.  Many stay open until late and offer sea views which are magnificent when there is a full moon.  The many warm evenings allow for al fresco dining for much of the year.

-Fiestas: Santa Cesarea Terme is situated in Puglia, a region known for its fresh produce and gourmet specialities.  Every Easter the resort hosts a festival dedicated to cuddrura, a deep-fried sweet. Though usually made at home it can be found in some of Santa Cesarea Terme’s bakeries.

Weather in Santa Cesarea Terme

Simple and charming

5 of 5
A basic open plan little villa, which proved to be perfect for two couples and two babies. The bedrooms are a generous size (easily fitted the travel cots and other baby paraphernalia) and the bathroom and kitchen are clean and modern. The living space is minimalist but was ideal for the kids to toddle around. Loved the outdoor eating space especially - lovely for a shady breakfast and evening drinks. The pool is also ideal for kids as it's raised, meaning it's very safe. It's a very quiet peaceful spot with hardly any traffic. Cutrofiano (nearest little town) is very pretty and highly recommended for dinner or a gelato in the square. It's only 20 mins from Galipolli which has a lovely historic centre and beautiful beaches. On the opposite coast Otranto was also gorgeous. The owner (Rory) is super helpful, as is the local contact Dave. I would definitely recommend this villa if you are looking for value for money.

Nice villa/apprtment on the edge of a nice little town

5 of 5
It's a good sized, well designed apartment. Good to have a separate kitchen rather than the open-plan kitchen/living area that you get in so many holiday lets. The historic centre of Otranto is really nice (about 10 minutes walk away) - lots of restaurants to choose from (but it helps if you like seafood). While we were there, there was a "Sounds & Tastes Festival" (1st to 4th of June) which we enjoyed - heartily recommend that. Long sandy beaches north of Otranto (Alimini for one) and, to the south, Porto Badisco is a good spot for snorkelling.
