Sant'Agnello,(Sorrento) Naples area, Italy - Sant'Agnello and Sorrento, tips and highlights, how to discover the true Italian lifestyle!

Everybody knows Sorrento as one of the must important resort in Italy. Sorrento and Sant'Agnello belong to the same touristic area. The most spectacular views are from Belvedere of Colli di Fontanelle overlooking the Amalfi coast.

The most spectacular views in town, are from Belvedere of Villa Miragalli and La Marinella, where there is a Restaurant Bar where we suggest having a drink at sunset. In the historical centre of Sant'Agnello you can have a walk and have a chat with local very friendly people. At beginning of September there is a well know local festival in the district of Colli di Fontanelle, right on the top of the hills. The local countryman arrange a festival that last for a week, where you can taste a wide selection of agricultural products, wines, hand made cheese, biggest fruits and vegetable contest, and several happenings, every evening famous pop singer and groups entertain the people who have part to this really Italian festival, we suggest to visit to feel the soul of the local people.

For those who love to walk we suggest to have an excursion to Sant Elia, an amazing path trough the woods overlooking the Amalfi coast sea and Li Galli Isles, the path begin very close to Villa Miragalli.

This itinerary is only a short part of the old route linking Torca and Colli di Fontanelle passing along the foot of the cliff of the Malacoccola; moreover, a side branch of this mule track leads to Punta Sant’Elia. where there used to be a tonnara (tunny-fishing plant).

The path begins at Belvedere (that means, and is, "outlook") at the end of a dead end road 800m off Colli di Fontanelle. Nowadays you can only walk this trail for about 2km till a gate blocks the way.

To start with the path descends gently eastward overlooking Vettica di Praiano, then turns right, towards the sea becoming steeper. You zigzag down till you reach the rocky pinnacle that was once the western pillar of the famous Arco di Sant'Elia, or Arch of the Queen (Giovanna).

You walk through the typical bushes and flowers of the garigue and a few trees of the Mediterranean scrub. After this natural arch the path is almost level for a while and then you'll come to the only fork of this itinerary: turn right. Climb a few meters and keep walking towards the other pinnacle, bigger and squatter than the previous one, locally known as Pizzo 'e Cardillo. Go around it and then descend more steps and walk for a few more hundred meters.

At this point you are in front of the gate that blocks our walk so start thinking about climbing back up. Actually the stretch downhill from Pizzo 'e Cardillo doesn't add anything special to this excursion, consequently I suggest you stop just after the pinnacle. After a due pause, walk slowly back up enjoying all the views towards the sea and the impressive cliff of Malacoccola, as well as the colours and the fragrances of the luxuriant vegetation.

We hope that this little guide will be helpful. Written by Bruno Acampora - Owner of Property 18114 in Sant'Agnello, Italy

Outstanding. Excellent. Views from balcony that are breath taking

The property is just amazing. The moment you walk through the door your holiday dreams come true. It has everything you could possibly need and the aircon is just wonderful. The views from the balcony at sunset are simply stunning. Many glasses of wine were drunk over the week watching the sun go down while looking out over the marina. Would go back in a heart beat. Maria our host was amazing from the first moment we enquired about booking. While there she helped recommend places to go and people to book activities through. A real caring person who wanted the best for our stay. A truly wonderful holiday in a wonderful part of Italy

Lucia and her husband were so very kind and helpful all week. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned and everything was comfortable. The owners of this lovely villa are wonderful and do such a great job of looking after their guests.
