Make a holiday villa in San Vito di Cadore your home away from home

Situated in the heart of the Dolomites, a spectacular mountain range in north-eastern Italy, San Vito di Cadore is a delightful year-round holiday destination.  In the winter, skiing and snowboarding are the most popular activities, and the variety of slopes caters for all experience levels from the novice to the advanced.  During the summer, there’s mountain climbing, mountain biking and trekking to consider.

San Vito di Cadore sits at the foot of the Antelao Mountain and if in need of a base with wonderful scenery, HomeAway has a number of holiday villas in San Vito di Cadore with impressive views of the mountains.  These holiday properties are comfortably furnished and come with large balconies and a range of premier amenities including internet connectivity. San Vito di Cadore holiday apartments are also available, and they too offer wonderful views.  Both types of rentals are close to, or within the town and all its amenities. HomeAway also has a number of other affordable holiday rentals within the Dolomites, including those at Belluno and  Alleghe.

Things to do

-Sports: With a holiday villa in San Vito di Cadore travellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to ski opportunities.  Among the nearest ski resorts to the town are Cortina (2 kilometres), San Vito di Cadore (9 kilometres), Misurina (10 kilometres) and San Cassiano (16 kilometres).  The town is also a good base from which to start climbing the mountains of Antelao, Sorapis and Pelmo.

-Outdoors: When the snow melts and spring and summer arrive, the surrounding area can be explored on mountain bikes.  The bicycle path from Calalzo di Cadore to Lienz runs near to the centre of San Vito.  There are also plenty of nice walks in the woods and delightful picnic spots near lakes.

-Historic monuments: Though the town is surrounded by some of the most famous peaks in the Venetian Alps it doesn’t lack in its own fascinating sights.  The parish church dates back to the beginning of the 13th century and contains some eye-catching religious art.  There is also an ethnographic museum.

-Family activities: In addition to fun on the slopes and exploring the countryside, the nearby small village of Cibiana di Caldore is a good addition to the travel itinerary.  Since 1980 many of its exterior walls have been used for artworks and there are large frescoes painted on the walls of some of the townhouses.  Cibiana has been nicknamed “The Land of Murals".

Comfortable Stay in a Fantastic Location

4 of 5
Very well-proportioned, well-furnished and well-equipped apartment with fantastic views. Shop, bar and restaurant/pizzeria within two minutes walk. Lots of outdoor exploring on the doorstep and throughout the locality.

Great Location and Facilities

5 of 5
Had a week with 4 companions treking in this area. Chalet is ideally located to axcess the local walks and an easy walk to the shops and bus stop to get to supplies and travel further afield. The advantage in getting a lift and bus pass as a combined ticket was fantastic but be aware that all the lifts generally stop for the summer on the last Sunday in September. Well recommended and would stay again if doing the same trip.

Nice apartment in a beautiful setting

5 of 5
The apartment was perfect for two, nicely decorated, utterly clean and very well equipped: new dishwasher and new washing machine, nice bathroom, bedroom with lots of cupboard space, a kitchen with everything you needed, all utensils i good quality. Living room a bit dark opening up to a nice balcony to the northwest. We had sunshine on the balcony from 4 to 6pm (september) nice after a days walking. The only minus was the hard mattresses - not ideal for somebody having problems with his back. We will definitely like to come back - finding a way to solve the mattress problem. And Cortina - a ten minutes walk away? A place of heaven for mountain lovers. Stayed September 2016.
