A truly magnificent villa!

5 of 5
A truly magnificent villa! The reception by Orietta, with an extensive tour of the whole villa (including the tower and all the facilities), was great. She also passed by several times to see if everything was ok. The bedrooms were all spacious and included their own bathroom. The beds were good, with also a set of towels for each bed, and everything was clean. We did not spend much time inside because of the good weather, but the main area is very spacious too with a few large dinner tables and quite a few comfortable sofas. Also, the WiFi was fast and stable most of the time. The covered terrace with its enormous dinner table (room for >25 people) was perfect. We were with a group of 21 adults and there was plenty of space for all of us. The view all around the villa was fantastic. The kitchen was also very good, with a professional dishwasher, a big double sink, an excellent six burner gas stove with a large oven. Also there were more than enough dishes, cups, glasses and cutlery. And then of course the swimming pool: it was fantastic. We went to several villas in Umbria, but this was the first one with enough pool chairs for everyone of us. The pool was clean (someone came to clean it daily) and perfect to just float around or for some more active swimming. Again, the view here was awesome. There is so much more to tell about, such as the separate building with table football and a ping pong table, the great outdoor kitchen for both barbecue and pizza baking, and the beautiful, huge tree that was illuminated in the evenings... If you are looking for a truly fantastic villa in Umbria, this is the one!

Lovely find in uncharted Umbria

5 of 5
We took 11 days in September 2017 - full house of adults and children - and overall enjoyed the property very much. One double en suite downstairs, two similar rooms upstairs and two twin rooms on the same floor that share a bathroom. No complaints about the rooms - all upstairs ones had great views and the downstairs, to make up for it, had it's own patio area through the second door. Mosquito blind cover all the windows simultaneously allowing a breeze in. Back rooms were cooler at night (including the downstairs double). The pool sits behind a changing room shed and isn't visible from the house, meaning you'd need to be in situ to look after children. Pool isn't deep (4ft at the thicker end) and there are steps. Children became more confident in their swimming abilities as the days wore on. Sitting room has TV, OK internet and Netflix. Internet spreads thinly but adequately throughout the house. Spent most evenings on the paved area under the canopy, eating and drinking while admiring the view. Make sure all food is swept up as giant ants will invade with any excuse. Nearby Amelia (5 mins drive) is worth a few visits: playground, 3x small supermarkets (you need to go to Terni for a BIG shop, which is 25mins away), a few pizzerias, walled city centre, cathedral at the top of a good walk. Walks around the property itself is limited. Running to the cathedral and back is an excellent workout - v hilly - and about 60 mins. Terni has a waterfall that we should have visited. Bath can hold 2/3 children in the downstairs en suite. Changing room/pool shed has another bathroom for showers. Outdoor shower by the pool too. Sunloungers and BBQ were well used throughout. Need to buy charcoal - lots of it - if you want to utilize. Bakers and butchers in the centre. We did Locanda del Conte Nitto for a lunch (great variety - not sure if the owner is Lenny Kravitz or not) and La Gabelletta for an evening meal (great quality - although no one came out until 9pm to eat with their children!). Both came to about 28 Euros/head. Porcelli Tavern does great takeaway pizza (and great eat in pizza) as well as crepes. Student-y vibe and cheap. Slow service. Worth a night. Pizzas 7-10 euros, crepe is 4 euros. Osteria Monte del Grano in Sab Vito was a pleasant surprise for Sunday lunch - 60 euros/head for 4 courses and copious wine - brill local experience. All child friendly. Stefano/Isabella are helpful and understanding. Recommend.
