Peace perfect peace................

4 of 5
The trullo has a feeling of being VERY rural, but is actually only about 10 mins from Castellana, and an easy walk to the nearest Maseria Centrone Picolo (and my goodness the food was amazing there!!) We took the car up (laziness really) and the staff were happy for us to leave it overnight and collect the next day (make sure you take the torch from the trullo for your walk home!) A stay in a trullo has been on my to do list for a while and this didn't disappoint. The property was very comfortable and easily accommodated 4 adults. The location is ideal for visiting the surrounding area and further afield. Stating the obvious I know, but a car is absolutely essential! We had an epic thunder and lightening storm on day one and the trullo was struck by lightening with an almighty crack!! The whole area was out of power for 4 or 5 hours but our lovely neighbour Rocco a few minutes away gave us some candles so this was not an issue (gas hob, so we didn't starve!) I believe from speaking to him that the power can often fail when it is particularly stormy so some candles and a few more candle holders in the trullo would be nice (I do appreciate that the owners are perhaps concerned about fire hazards tho, so this may be why they aren't supplied) This is the first holiday I can remember where I didn't come home having put on half a stone and craving fruit and veg (and believe me it wasn't for lack of trying!!) The local produce is just fabulous, the local veg amazing and the meat and seafood top notch. A lot of the local restaurants have a 0km policy for produce, not as a trendy selling point, like some other places I have been, but just because that is what they do here. David was fantastic in the run up to our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble, and the deluxe hamper and wine and beer pack waiting for us, as arranged, meant we could completely chill for the first couple of days. The meal left in the fridge was a Godsend due to our flight being delayed (tho I must confess, there was so much that it also gave us lunch the next day!) An absolute 5 star service, that could not be faulted and made us feel very special. I am VERY picky when it comes to accommodation and a few small tweaks would take this review from 4 star to 5 star. The roofing over the outside dining area still lets rain through (would have been nice to sit out and stay dry even if raining) and the screening to the side needs to be stronger. (As I said VERY picky! Fabulous holiday tho)

Amazing service and a fantastic holiday

From the moment we booked till the day we left we received excellent customer service from the Puglia Paradise team. Angela was our main contact & helped us book places to eat & a tour guide for Matera. She even arranged some flowers to help celebrate my 50th birthday. Check in was supposed to be 4pm but we had a morning flight, we fully intended to drop bags off then go shopping. We were sent a message to say we could book in from 12pm which was really helpful. We had a great welcome & a courtesy basket of essentials. The Trullo itself is in a great location for exploring the area. Putignano is the nearest town with a lovely historical centre with an excellent choice of places to eat. Our nearest supermarket was here too. Alberobello was 15 mins away, very touristy but a must to visit & it looks fantastic at night. Beaches at Monopoli and Polignano are rocky rather than sandy but beautiful none the less. At Polignano we watched local kids diving from cliff tops & it is apparently where the world diving championship are being held at the end of September. Martina Franca was 50mins away another pretty historical centre & a lively place on a Friday, lots of locals, live music & a perfect venue for people watching. Ostuni was gloriously white & bright, offered amazing views over the valley. In Locorotondo we stumbled over a car show in the square with Fiat fanatics showing off their old & lovingly restored cars which was great fun. Noci is a really traditional town 10 mins away it had a great feel & the locals were really friendly. Matera is 1hr 20 away in the neighbouring Basciliata. You must not miss a chance to visit before it gets taken over with us tourists. An amazing vibe and history, take the time to view it also from the park opposite. We watched the sun go down behind the town it was beautiful. We didn't have a chance to see the caves at Castellana but then you have to have a reason to go back & go back we will as there is still so much more to do and see. When we do we will certainly use a Puglia Paradise property.Trullo Nora is stunning & well equiped, we were a party of 4 adults so ample room .Pool was heated & well kept. We cooked a couple of nights & lacked for nothing in the kitchen. I would say you will need mosquito cream/plugs. If I had one moan it would be the bed in the main bedroom was in need of changing,it was very hard and a little lumpy but that's being picky. Thanks again to Angela & team perfect service! A fabulous trip.
