That is how I described our location for my face book friends, and future visitors. Since we stayed a total of two months, I am not sure all of our experiences will be helpful to the one or two week vacationer. First of all, the house was a revelation. It was hard to conceive of what a house was going to look like, perched at the end of a medieval village. It met our needs very nicely. The bedrooms were cozy, and the kitchen was large. It was equipped with a dishwasher, that saw quite a lot of use. The Internet (very important to me) was more than adequate, and reliable. Over the course of two months there were a couple of instances where items needing fixing. Fortunately the hardware store in Ribola was well stocked, and I was equal to the task. The view was inspiring, from every window, of every room. I wish I had paid more attention to the distances to landmarks (Florence, Sienna, Lucca, etc) from our house. That was my fault....not Chriss's. The people in the village were friendly, and the shops were good enough....the bakery was more that good enough! We had a great time, walking all over the countryside, and there is some walking involved. What a great experience!
Apartment Arcobaleno is a really nicely renovated apartment in a beautiful large village house perched on top of a hill, which affords wonderful views (great sunsets) and a pleasant breeze.
The apartment is furnished with all that you could possibly require (although I never did find the kitchen towels), with a very large kitchen/dining room, living room, two bedrooms with their own wc/shower rooms.
I have only positive experiences staying here and recommend it wholeheartedly.
The road on the approach is rather tight in places and will suit smaller cars.
Sticciano itself is a lovely little village with a really great restaurant (very good value) with incredible sunset views looking onto the not too distant sea and rolling hills.
The sea with a lovely beach (Rocchette) is about 35mins drive. Sienna about an hour.
All in all, a really, really nice place and we will return.
