Absolutely beautiful setting near a lovely hilltop village - real Tuscany

4 of 5
We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Lisa. You feel you are away from it all, surrounded by nature and beautiful views - and at the same time you are just a 10 minute short walk (uphill) to the centre of Sassofortino, with a small Co-op, a baker, a few small shops and two very good local pizzerias. We really liked the village, it's relaxed and has very, very foreign few tourists. The farmhouse itself is great - we were a family of 4 and there was plenty of space. One of our most favourite things was sitting on the terrace for breakfast looking out across the valley - stunning! The pool is set down a small slope in the garden, you really feel away from it all, surrounded by the vines and trees - if you like nature, you'll love this. Mike also very kindly left us some provisions as we were arriving really late with young kids - we appreciated that. For any families with younger kids (ours were 6 and 9) you can get to stunning beaches in 40 mins up to an hour depending how far you want to go - the beaches we went to were shallow and very safe for kids (Punta Ala in particular). Massa Maritima, Sienna, and Montalcino were all great to visit. And also the waterpark at Follonica was really well organised and fun. The reasons we haven't given 5 stars (and these are just personal preferences) is that the only comfy chairs to sit on were tub chairs, and there is no sofa as such, through there are two day beds. During our stay the aircon wasn't working in the 2nd bedroom and there was some building work happening next door. None of these things really spoiled our enjoyment of Casa Lisa, the building work will be temporary and the aircon was due to be fixed. It would be difficult to find a better place to stay on a beautiful Tuscan hilltop, in such a glorious setting - we would definitely recommend.

We loved Casa dell' artista and would happily recommend it to other visitors. The property is romantic and has fantastic views. The village is friendly and the restaurants provide good Tuscan food. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would love to go back in due course.
