Great location.

The apartment is very well situated for visiting many beautiful places with great walking, and the view is wonderful - you look straight over the picturesque village of Saint-Pierre to the valleys and mountains of the Gran Paradiso national park. Marinella and Filio were going away on holiday immediately after we arrived, but waited to welcome us and give us lots of information about the locality. Our car was off the road for the last two days of our nine day stay, but there were good walks from the apartment with wonderful views up, down and across the Aosta valley (which is beautiful once you leave the valley floor). The wi-fi worked well, the garage was useful. Heating (gas) is charged for in winter, but with care this didn't amount to too much.

We really enjoyed our stay in Epinel and the apartment was lovely. Our party consisted of me, travelling from UK and my brother who lives in Rome and his 2 children aged 6 and 3. The apartment was perfect, I was lucky to have the double bedroom all to myself whilst my brother shared the other bedroom with his children. It would be perfect for a family with 2 children as the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The apartment is very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen excellent heating which was needed as it was very cold outside! There is a great view from the little balcony and it’s quite sheltered. Although the apartment is part of a family home, it is self contained and you can have as much or as little contact as you wish with the family, however I would recommend that you talk to the host Luciana as she has loads of local knowledge and was very helpful. Both she and her parents, who also live in the building, were very friendly, helpful and hospitable, in fact on the day of our departure when we had to leave very early to get connecting flight/trains in Milan, they all got up before 6.00 am to help my brother to get the hire car out of the car park onto the road - that was above and beyond the call of duty! Epinel is a beautiful little village with a great snow park just 5 mins walk from this apartment. There’s a little grocery shop with a good selection of provisions (closed from around 12.15 - 3.00 but saying that, when the proprietor saw me outside on New Year’s Day after he’d closed for lunch, he opened up and was very helpful). It’s just a short trip to Cogne, a great little town with lots of shops and a great family snow park/play area/activity centre. The prices there were a bit difficult to fathom but basically we paid €30 for 2 adults + 2 children for a day pass - this allows you to leave and go back on the same day and includes all sorts of snowy sliding equipment. They are missing a trick by not having a cafe/restaurant on site but their are some nice little cafes only 2 mins walk away. If you need to do a big shop, Aosta is about 30 mins away by car, 50 by bus (free). The bus timetable app thing is a bit sketchy so I’d recommend using Google maps to put in where you want to go and click on the bus - it’s more accurate. I would definitely recommend this destination and especially this apartment.
