  • Very welcoming and well equipped

We stayed for six days with our two children, aged 2 and 4. The main draw with two children was the swimming pool, which was perfect for them as non-swimmers, as part of it allowed them to stand up by themselves. The rest was deep enough for us to swim, but also to always touch the bottom and so be able to play with them in the whole pool. It was just about warm enough too, even on the cloudy days! The extensive grounds had a trampoline, play house, double-swing set, and two slides, which kept our two entertained for almost as much time as the numerous cats and three very friendly dogs. A highlight of their day was going out in the morning to greet the cats, and visit the budgies, chickens, geese, turtles, and to try to spot an elusive pig! The apartment itself was well equipped, with both bedrooms ensuite with good showers. The kitchen was small but comfortable and had all necessary appliances, including a coffee machine, good kettle, microwave and (importantly) - a dishwasher! It was a very nice touch that the fridge had been stocked with essentials, and that there were some store cupboard basics (pasta, oil, eggs etc, and a bottle of wine!) so that we didn't need to rush to the shops the first day. The tennis court is a bit dilapidated so we didn't take full advantage of that, and it would have been useful to have an information pack listing local attractions. However, Thomas was very welcoming and very happy to answer any questions that we had (both before we arrived and during our stay), and pointed us in the direction of good places to visit with the kids. A really lovely stay - the kids woke up the first morning back asking when we could go back!

  • An ideally located comfortable, well equipped home

We would thoroughly recommend this ideally located one storey home, with comfortable, spacious accommodation, well equipped throughout and excellently maintained. The owner was very easy to contact and provided every assistance in the booking process, including excellent notes about local facilities, travel opportunities, suggesting where to visit, how to get there, accommodating all tastes. The views from the house were breathtaking, the gardens providing lovely outside eating and recreation facilities and parking our hire car was easy and secure. Food shopping was made convenient with the local supermarket in Cascia, and a bigger superstore in nearby Figline Valdarno. Access to Firenze was easy by rail from Figline Valdarno, a 10 minute drive from La Capanna. There is a good network of local country roads, providing unlimited opportunities to experience the local Tuscan life in the numerous lovely, historic villages.
