Things to do in Radicofani, Italy

Sitting on a hill towering over the town and visible for many kilometres around, The Rocca (Castle) of Radicofani is the main local landmark and dates back to the 10th Century. After extensive restoration the Rocca was re-opened to the public in 1999, and is a great place to start any holiday in Radicofani. Another landmark worth visiting is the Romanesque Church of San Pietro, which houses several works by Italian Renaissance sculptors.

Although amenities and tourist attractions around the town are slightly limited, the main attraction for those on a self-catering break in Tuscany is often simply the ability to be able to sit on the balcony or around the pool of their holiday rental accommodation in Radicofani and enjoy a glass of local wine and some fine food, basking in the excellent summer weather and a stunning countryside backdrop.

May is an interesting month in which to visit Radicofani, as it is the time of the annual ‘One Thousand Miles Race’. The highlight of this popular celebration is a parade of vintage cars through Radicofani and the surrounding villages. As may be expected, plenty of local food and wine is also on offer during the event.

Review for stay from 19 August 2017 to 19 August 2017

5 of 5
Lovely stay at Casale Santa Francesca, it was the perfect home base for travelling around Tuscany. The property is big and even if you are part of a large group of people you won’t feel cramped, the dining area (inside and outside) was big enough to acommodate our big party of 16. You might argue with your companions over the Jacuzzi, but you can enjoy the big swimming pool while you are waiting for your turn! The views are incredible, the quiet is absolute. Thank you Franco for your warm hospitality and for sharing your amazing property with us.

Traditional villa with amazing views and pool area

5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely huge countrystyle villa with a spectacular view - one of the most beautiful ever! We enjoyed the big clean pool with amazing views (did I mention the view already :) in the sun and tranquility. There were places to choose in the pool area: in the sun, shadow, hammock, gazebo or water. Kitchen supplies were more than enough to us 14 people and the outside terrace table was big enough to 14 people to eat together. Kitchen was not so big or modern but we managed to cook everything we needed. We all really enjoyed our own bedrooms mainly with own bathrooms. In the nearest village Radicofani 7 km away there were a lovely little groceryshop and a castle definitely worth visiting. The Radicofani village itself was little but really beautiful old village. We felt we got a piece of Italian authencity there. There is in the other small village, in the other direction, a nice restaurant - also with a spectacular view - where we enjoyed a-3-course-birthday-dinner. Car is definitely necessary. The road to the house is a very narrow dirt road but our drivers had no problems. We visited Montepulciano, Pienza and some small villages during the week. The roads and routes are the most classic, beautiful postcard-Tuscany sceneries. The unique and atmosphere was completed with a beautiful herd of sheep passing by the house daily. If I had known about it I would have booked the house in a heart beat :). All our questions (and we had many) were answered promptly and with good customer service attitude. It was a pleasure to book this villa. Thank you and regards :). PS sorry for such a late review....
