We had a wonderful holiday based in Casa Montaldo. Rainer and Lisa were very welcoming and on site to offer excellent advice on places to visit, and to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The property is comfortable and beautifully restored to a very high standard. There are wonderful, extensive views of the local village and distant hills from the terrace and swimming pool, although, as is to be expected in October, the water temperature was quite bracing!
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, including an induction hob, but there is no oven or microwave.
The property is part of the owners house and their access is is via the patio area which is the also outside space for this holiday apartment, so it is not totally private. However, they are very considerate and this was not a problem to us.
Finally, we would thoroughly recommend Casa Montaldo to anyone wanting a base from which to explore this wonderful region of Italy.
We had the most wonderful week here. The house suited us perfectly for us all (2 adults and 4 children ages 12,11,9&3) and the outdoor space was great too, lots of areas to enjoy sitting in the sun and also shade if preferred. We tended to have breakfast in the garden near the pool and spend more time at the front in the evenings near the barbecue.
The pool was lovely with stunning views all around in total seclusion from neighbouring houses and even though there were few cars to be heard in the distance you can’t see any road from the house.
The beds were all really comfy and the kitchen and sitting room were well equipped too (with the small exception of no potato peeler - no big deal!).
We spent a lot of time at the house as the weather was so good but we did enjoy Alba and nearby Dogliani for drinks and ice-cream. Also a trip to Noli on the coast was well worth the visit.
Would very much consider returning if we can.
