Wonderful pastime at the villa

5 of 5
Want to say a few words about our accomodation. The villa was very cozy, big and had a wonderful swimming pool with a great view. Also the house had a wonderful terrace. The house keeper met us and showed the house and explained everything about it and about the facilities in it and about places you could visit and nice beaches. Around the house there are many oak trees on which squirrels are living. The house is situated in a very safe area and had a very big kitchen with all kind of equipment. There was a separate entry with gates to the house and what's more there were cameras around the house. We enjoyed our accommodation very much.

Wow! We loved this place

5 of 5
This villa is great and we would happily go back. To be clear, if you demand certain things, the house may not be for you, but those are stated in the listing. We went at the start of August--it was really hot, obviously--and there is no air conditioning. The third floor was pretty warm, although sleeping was okay. If you require a pool, this is not for you. Also, it is about an hour drive from the beach, so again, consider that. It is reasonably isolated, so you will need a car. The town of Francavilla in Sini is 10km down the hill. That said, it met our needs and more. It is located in Potenza, which is not a heavy tourist area, which is a good thing, but it is beautiful. You are right in the largest national park in Italy. There is abundant hiking in the area. We also drove to beaches on both sides of Italy, which was great. The house is big, very big. There were five of us (2 adults; 3 teenagers). There was always enough space, to the extent that there was one wing of the house we didn't even use. The facilities are very good, including the gym and spa. We were hosted by Maria (who was wonderful) and Andy (the custodian and also terrific). Maria gave us some excellent suggestions, including a local restaurant on the first night we arrived, where we simply told them we had two vegetarians and three meat eaters, after which the food just kept coming. Maria arranged for us to have pizza cooked in our own pizza oven for one dinner, which was a really good meal and something I'd absolutely recommend. The villa has its own 'guard' dog; a super friendly canine who sat outside the front gate to welcome us home each day, but never came inside the gate. Make sure you talk to them ahead of time to clarify meeting places etc, as the house is hard to find the first time. While some of the arrangements and discussions were difficult because of language differences, we were able to get everything sorted out and the team was very helpful. Maria could not have been more accommodating. Overall, I'd strongly recommend this place, whether you just want to relax with a good book and enjoy the views, or whether you want to have a central location to explore southern Italy.
