A very relaxing sunshine break in mid-September at Villa Allesandra

5 of 5
My wife and I had an extremely pleasant and relaxing break in the Sardinian sunshine of mid-September at the Villa Allesandra in the village of Taunanella, Budoni. It is about a 30 minute drive from Olbia airport and is relatively easy to find (Homeaway provided detailed driving instructions) although at the end of our journey, it took a few minutes to realise that having turned into Via degli Argonauti, you come to a junction where you turn left for about 15 metres and then Via degli Argonauti continues on the right. Having turned right, about 10 metres on the left, you will see the gate of the little community of properties in which the villa is situated. We eventually arrived at about 8 pm and as instructed we phoned the housekeeper who opened the gate and showed us to our property. (Note that the housekeeper only speaks Italian so it helps to speak a little Italian). The villa was clean, spacious and well-appointed and the swimming pool was just great (it is big enough to swim in rather than just paddle about !). There is a shaded area on the terrace and a large table so you can eat outside if you wish. There are two small supermarkets within 5 minutes walking distance and we recommend the fresh fruit and vegetables both sell. There is also a very good restaurant within 10 minutes walking distance which we recommend. You can walk to the beaches to the North East although it helped to have Google Maps on my phone ! (By the way, there is excellent 3G/4G Mobile service in the area and good and reliable WiFi in the villa). We spent one day touring and the roads were very quiet (certainly compared to the UK) so this made driving a very pleasant experience. Sardinia has some spectacular scenery so we would advise at least one day touring. Massimo (who speaks English) was extremely helpful with all our queries both beforehand and while we were there and he clearly takes care to ensure his clients have as good a holiday as possible. In summary, if you are looking for a relaxing break with your own private swimming pool in a quiet area, we would definitely recommend the Villa Allesandra.

Stunning!

Had most amazing week in a stunning location. The villa was exactly as described - so beautiful. Loved easy access to beach and spacious shady verandah. Approach road a bit bumpy but had no problems with it. Would love to return one day!

Fantastic spot and the best owners ever!!!

5 of 5
We had a lovely 2 weeks in this little piece of paradise. The house was very cosy and beautifully decorated with lovely drawings and quality furniture. The terrace giving out on the sunset with mountain and sea views was a delight. The costa Smeralda is a beautiful ragion, the beaches and nature can rival some of the best Caribbean Islands we have been to. When we didn't want to take the car we used the giant swimming pool 30 mts from the house or the secluded beach less than 5 min walk. We even went to the shops by foot a few times as it is so near and so are some very decent restaurants. As a cook I also enjoyed the quality of the kitchenware in this house, plus everything we needed was there and that is not often the case in holiday rentals. But what really made the difference was the kindness of the owners. We travel very often all over Italy and never experienced this level of care before. Any small questions was answered within the hour. They would also call on us regularly to check if all was well and really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We will be back.
