  • Charming apartment with amazing views
    5 of 5

This is a charming apartment in the heart of a tiny mountain village with lots of walks directly from the front door. It was a beautiful retreat with plenty of space for 2 adults and 3 children. We were met by Silvia, who showed us to her house and left us with plenty of supplies (including delicious homemade cakes). The village is delightful and there is a small shop and a restaurant close by. Silvia gave us many suggestions as to where to visit though we spent most of our time on local walks, which were well sign-posted and easy to find. There are lots of activities close by including canoeing and bike hire. The kitchen is small but has everything you need for simple cooking. One tip - the parking is outside the village and it took some time to get our large estate car into the space. We loved our time here and would definitely come back!

  • Rural retreat in beautifully restored house with pool
    5 of 5

I have no hesitation in recommending this property. It won't be for everyone - it's a far cry from the Italian coastal fervour but if you are after somewhere to relax and still be within reach of some wonderful cultural sights this is for you. The house itself is in really good condition having been restored to a very high standard - it felt more like staying in a friends house than a rental. Beautiful beams and terracotta tile floors throughout and comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen. The pool is great - plenty large enough and lovely and fresh - so you can really cool down after taking in some sun or after a good long walk. The house is in a tiny hamlet surrounded by forests - but within 15 mins you can be in Spoleto which had so much to see - it's actually extraordinary just how much there is to see being such a small hill town. There are many other towns within an easy drive if you want to explore further. The surrounding hills are wonderful - really wild and very thinly populated - get a hiking map from the tourist office. You can get very high, with wonderful panoramas and see some truly awesome sunsets! For our family this was an idea location - relaxing - nice to just read by the pool but also easy to access some culture - local festa's, great restaurants, art galleries etc. We were there in the summer - but I think this would be a great place to stay any time of year.
