Lovely little house in a picturesque, traditional Italian village. Beautifully clean, well equipped. Huge comfy bed with a fabulous view. Nice modern bathroom with good shower. So peaceful and unspoilt. Bar Centrale provided lovely espressos and was a great place to sit out and watch the village. The bakery was open at 8.30am every morning for fresh baked croissants and delicious Italian pastries. Great base to explore surrounding areas. Day trips to Scanno (very pretty town and Lake Scanno (take your towel and sunbathe the day away), Sulmona (buy some confetti) and L'Aquila.
Il Girasole restaurant in the village is lovely as is Bar De Lisa in Castel di Leri, about 4 miles away, run by Carla who speaks English.
I would highly recommend this property, the owner was helpful and gave us information before we went and it was a perfect place for a get away.
Staying in Goriano Sicoli was great. The apartment was very smart and it was more like house setting than a rental. Everything was there and Nick the owner even had food on hand for our first night, so no hassle at the market for food. The place has a great view (every time we skyped friends or family we always took the computer out to the balcony so every could see our view). We met the neighbors and had a wonderful time having them up. The people of Goriano are very helpful if you initiate contact. There are great little stores and a fabulous bakery. We eat once at one of the local eateries (Maverick, interesting name for an Italian eatery) and the food and wine were first class. Abruzzi has wonderful produce and farm goods and it was a pleasure to go to the market. We would recommend a car as there are many small farms and towns in the area that are interesting as well. After a month stay in Rome we needed a break form the site-seeing and the school we attended. We highly recommend a stay at Nick’s place for something special another side of Italy that is well worth seeing.
