Pescara holiday accommodation is located in and around the largest city in Italy’s Abruzzo region. Here you’ll be on the Adriatic Sea, with a host of excellent beaches to discover, while Pescara is also home to a beautiful historical quarter, and there’s scenic countryside and other attractive towns to be found within a short drive.

This part of Pescara is also partly enclosed by defensive walls erected by the Spanish centuries ago. There are a number of beaches to be found along the city’s waterfront, many of which are open to the public. These feature golden sand and are usually complemented by a range of shops and amenities.

Around 20 minutes inland from Pescara holiday rentals is the city of Chieti, which is home to a stunning Romanesque cathedral dating to the 1000s, as well as a defensive tower from the 1300s. The city also sits on the site of a former roman stronghold, and a number of remnants can be seen around the city – these include water reservoirs and the remains of a theatre.

The Abruzzo region around Pescara self-catering holiday accommodation is famed for its large expanses of unspoiled nature. A number of national parks can be reached within a relatively short drive from the city. The closest is Parco Nazionale della Maiella, just past Chieti, which encompasses the massif of the same name, and boasts more than 500 kilometres of walking trails through some truly spectacular natural scenery. Grotta del Cavallone – one of the deepest caves on the continent can be found in this park.

The town of Teramo can be found towards the north of Abruzzo, about an hour from holiday accommodation in Pescara, and is home to a stunning cathedral, which blends Romanesque and Gothic elements and dates to the 12th Century. Elsewhere the Palazzo dei Melatino is an impressive medieval palace from the 1200s.
